It says no audio device is installed when I plug in my c920 logitech camera. This just happened recently. They used to work well together before.

Please see this page for a solution. I can confirm it works for solving the issue with a c920 on Windows 11.

Thanks, this seems to work. I have not dared to reboot the system yet :)

I went through Microsoft customer service. They helped me uninstall the latest Windows update and do a clean reboot. Everything is up and running perfectly again. The issue is a glitch in the last Windows 11 update that was installed on my machine October 12 2023

I agree this is far too time-consuming and complicated. Microsoft must fix the problem caused by the latest Windows Audio Service update. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE people are losing time and money.

I tried both uninstalling and disabling the device under "Sound, video and game controllers" and still seeing Windows Audio service stopping when connecting my Logitech webcam (mine is C910). Also tried that on the other devices associated with the webcam (e.g. mic under "Audio inputs and outputs" and camera under "Camers") but still seeing Windows Audio stopping.

I did however find a solution that isn't ideal but workable: install Logitech Capture.

    https://www.logitech.com/en-us/software/capture.html

    The not so ideal part:

    • Logitech Capture has not been updated for Windows 11, which means it's not compatible with Core Isolation. So, during the install, you will see an error and be prompted to disable Core Isolation. The good news is that after rebooting, everything works, i.e. Windows Audio no longer crashes and mic+camera work.
    • So, if you want to keep the protection offered by this new Windows 11 feature, then don't install Logitech Capture. Read more about Core Isolation here.
    • If you install Capture but now want to uninstall it to reenable Core Isolation, then you may find that the driver files are left around after the uninstall, preventing you from reenabling Core Isolation. Windows will show you the names of the driver files, so you just need to search for them in c:\Windows\system32 and manually delete them.
