Hi, I'm using my desktop PC as a makeshift router due to my current cirucmstances.
I have an issue with the hotspot randomly turning off, despite my phone being connected to it. I can't seem to figure out a proper reason for this. I've seen many tutorials but they all mention the standard solution of turning off power saving, then disallowing the PC to turn off the device in device manager, but none have worked. The PC doesn't lose internet connection, is still running and has a device connected, but it still randomly shuts off the hotspot.
Another question would be if there were any way to keep the mobile hotspot always on? As in, have the hotspot turn itself on after wake from sleep, hibernation or shut down. Theoretically I could have a batch script turn it on, but I think that only applies to starting from shutdown, not the other 2 sleep states.
My PC is currently running windows 10 build 19045. The motherboard has wifi built in, but I also have an external wifi dongle attached to the two ports on the back.

I also think there might be some correlation with your school's network. Additionally, they may have configured limitations or restrictions on your network. As I told you previously, these tests should be repeated on a different network or a home network.
But did you build this PC yourself or did you buy it already assembled? Why did you connect that antenna to the PC? Do you have poor WiFi signal reception?
I built the PC myself. I connected the antenna for no reason besides it coming with the motherboard. Now that I think about it, a stupid choice considering I've never connected this PC to wifi, I prefer ethernet.
If the router and PC are in the same room, it is not necessary to connect the antenna to the PC. Disconnect the antenna from the PC, enable the mobile hotspot and try to connect to the hotspot with a wireless device, possibly from the same room where the PC is, and check whether you still lose the connection with the mobile hotspot or not.
I'll give that a try, it'll take a bit to test because the disconnection seems random. I'll drop an update in a day or so, thanks for the help so far.
Yes, that is an antenna not a wireless adapter. For the mobile hotspot you only use 1 wireless adapter, the one integrated into the motherboard.

I've performed the tests and it seems like there is no difference... I think maybe it's because it's not a dongle but just an antenna?
