Can Hearing aids that are Bluetooth capable be used on a Windows 11 laptop?

my old hearing aids always work with windows 10, my new hp with windows 11 does not pare, i have tried all MS advice and tips, doesn't work. I found i do not have le audio technology on my windows 11 version 23H2 . what can i do?

Go and read your hearing aid manual, it will tell you which bluetooth version (if there is) is in your hearing aid. If they work on your windows 10 without any bridge devices, the hearing aids are most likely Bluetooth 4.0.

It does not make any sense that your older Windows 10 computer would have Bluetooth LE Audio and your newer Windows 11 computer doesn't.

For the thousand time, there is no such thing as Michael Jurist's "proprietary bluetooth" and Rob_85's "normal bluetooth". Bluetooth is Bluetooth. It's all or nothing.

In Bluetooth 3.0 HS (high speed), Bluetooth uses its own antenna for handshake/PIN exchange and uses the wifi antenna (with its own bluetooth protocol) for the high speed data transfer.

We DON'T call Bluetooth 3.0 HS as "proprietary wifi" even though it uses the wifi antenna and we DON'T call wifi as "normal wifi". Wifi is Wifi. Just as Bluetooth is Bluetooth.

"Made for iPhone" hearing aids uses the proprietary Apple wireless protocol and "Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids*"* uses Android's proprietary wireless protocol. Each hearing aids manufacturer has their own proprietary wireless protocol that talks to their own ConnectClip type dongle. Many of them use the Bluetooth antenna, but we DON'T call them proprietary Bluetooth. And we DON'T call Bluetooth as "normal Bluetooth".

I would like it if Microsoft had a list of tested compatible hardware because BT LE is definitely not enough.

There are Apple MAC devices that Apple claims pair with hearing aids, some only as one-way speakers, others that can use the microphone.

There is nothing to add to this list for Microsoft.

The list exists for Apple because Apple makes the iPhone and the iPhone is governed by the FCC. Then Apple started making the iPads and they share many of the hardware and OS components. Then Apple ditched Intel CPU and put an ARM chip inside their actual macos laptops. So their actual macos laptops share many of the hardware and OS components as the original iPhone (which is governed by the FCC).

Microsoft doesn't make any smartphones. So they never were required to make anything compatible with hearing aids.

Now it is UP TO THE HARDWARE MANUFACTURERS (like Dell) to design their PC's to include a bluetooth 5.3 LE chipset and the appropriate bluetooth 5.3 LE hearing aid compatible bluetooth driver. And it is UP TO THE HEARING AID MANUFACTURERS to adopt bluetooth 5.3 LE into their hearing aids.

And your Windows laptops can be like this laptop, the hardware is Bluetooth 5.2 ready but the laptop only has Bluetooth 5.1 drivers available.

Do you know what is so great about industry standard like Bluetooth? You don't need such list at all.

1. your Apple AirPods have fine print telling you that certain functions only works with this specific iPhone 14 or above with iOS version 16+ --- that means those functions are NOT bluetooth
2. your Sony or Bose wireless headphones have fine print telling you to download the Sony or Bose app on your phones --- that means those functions are NOT bluetooth.
3. and why is Sony or Bose not making those apps for the Windows Store for the windows pc?

Industry standard such as Bluetooth means that if your car has Bluetooth and your phone has Bluetooth, then all you need to do is do a PIN exchange. You don't need to look through a list of a thousand car head units or a thousand wireless headset models and check their os versions. You don't have to download an app for your car and for your phone.

This giant list on Apple's website is the result of a bunch of companies each of them having their own proprietary stuff attempting to interoperate with each other without an industry standard. That's why this giant list exists.

hi, don't say I'm wrong I'm not! WHAT I STATED IS A DIRECT QUOTE FROM SIGNIA'S TECH SUPPORT! That and that the Bluetooth definitions DO NOT DEFINE HEARING AIDS AS OUTPUT AUDIO DEVICES! I also had/have the same W10/W11 my Signia hearing aids would pair up with W10 but would not function because they are NOT defined as audio output devices like Bluetooth headphones! And W11 doesn't even see them at all! The new W11 update 24H2 is supposedly going to address this problem, we will see if this is so when it finishes rolling out to us users!
