So is reinstalling windows is the only fix to this?

This update installed fine on two new computers but one that is 3 years old it would not complete install.

This latest update caused my Daughter's Lenovo to constantly crash. PC would stay on for a few minutes before giving an error and then restart . Took me a while to put it into recovery mode and remove this latest quality update. Once I did that, it stopped shutting down. I also tried to put it in safe mode and that didn't work either. I have two other Lenovo laptops and I will not be updating until this is fixed.

I don't know if the newest update below is what caused her issues or if this is something else that might help. I'm afraid to install it for fear of going through the same thing. You have to put your BitLocker info in there and the laptop would not stay on that long so I had to be quick in order to go to the next steps in order to remove the latest quality update.

Stack update this morning for the one unit in question and it forced a Developer update on my laptop. Seems to have fixed it and I slide the button to off for early updates.

I cannot recommend early updates if you have a unit that works.

I still have applied to disenroll from insiders' program.

Neat trick to refresh Windows online. I need at least one device that has all my programs and files. Clean installation might occur after tax season/LOL

Download Windows 11 install for a USB stick and navigate into the stick files on your computer and start the program inside windows. Options to keep all programs/apps/everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This will not fix this issue but will give you the complete Windows file with nothing missing.

Update keeps failing during restart, and when my computer restarts, it has a critical error where my start menu isn't working that can't seem to be fixed.

Same issue: install works, then during reboot if fails at 96% of the upgrade process. After automated rollback start menu and search are not working anymore with a crtitical error message.

I tried several solutions, none of them worked:

1. restart in safe mode => does not fix anything
2. rollback to previous snapshot and install KB from MS catalog manually => same issue at 96%
3. ran update troubleshooter, restart and re-install => same issue at 96%

I see quite a lot of people having the same issue with no solution.

I'm now stuck, unable to install the cumulative fix.

Any solution or fix will be highly appreciated, is MS working on this?

Tried sfc and DISM.exe

1. sfc fixed some files
2. for DISM everything's fine

result is exactly the same: rollback during reboot at 96% and start menu and search not working. I again had to restore to a previous snapshot.

0x800f0922 is the error showing in updates history.

I still completly stuck and the only way I have to keep a working PC is to disable upgrades for a while.
