Installation Failure for 2023-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5031356) 0x8007000D

Hi, I am unable to install latest Windows 10 22H2 Cumulative Update, with the error 0x8007000D. I have tried downloading the KB from Microsoft Update Catalog and run manually but I am getting this error as well. Has anyone else faced this issue and does anyone have a solution for this?

    I have licenced windows 10 home 64 bit OEM version. If I do in place upgrade then what version of windows will it install?

    you should have a electronic activated licence which is linked to your motherboard and it did affect my licence.

    down load the creation tool for windows 10 from Microsoft and run it then you upgrade this pc now and keep your apps and file

    once this is complete your should be able to update windows again

    There are a lot of videos on you tube to watch just put in "in place upgrade for windows 10" it was very easy and didn't loss a thing

    How to do in place upgrade?

    Does it remove the license of the windows?

    Also having the same issue.

    ren %systemroot%\softwaredistribution softwaredistribution.bak

    Said access was denied.

    When I try to install the update, laptop runs an attempt of repair.

    Thanks Brian, I did steps 1 and 3 but not 2. Everything checked out fine but still would not work. I suspended updates for a week hoping Microsoft will correct the problem. If it does not happen might try step 2(worried that it might make things worse) and might try to restore windows w/o deleting my files. Since my system is not compatible with win 11 there may be a problem with my drivers or hardware. I don't have tmp2 and it says my graphics card is not compatible with win 11, but, win 10 was working just fine until this update , yet, it failed and does not show in my successful updates. My PC that it won't install on is over half empty. 576GB free space. My current question is why did it install the other update kb5031224 on 10-11 and another update kb5001716 on 10-12, but, will not install kb5031356? That would indicate to me that nothing is wrong with my windows update setup.
