I was able to update somehow, other updates accumulated, I updated them too, but my sound drivers etc. broke this time.
Installation Failure for 2023-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5031356) 0x8007000D
Hi, I am unable to install latest Windows 10 22H2 Cumulative Update, with the error 0x8007000D. I have tried downloading the KB from Microsoft Update Catalog and run manually but I am getting this error as well. Has anyone else faced this issue and does anyone have a solution for this?
Thank you!

2023-11-02T15:44:38+00:00 Thanks, I am doing the same. Afraid to follow some of the suggestions such as deleting the Software distributions software as I am not that savy about computers and am afraid that I might make things worse. something is definitely wrong with kb5031356 and microsoft needs to fix this. Unless they are doing this on purpose to make us go to Win 11, which my computer is not able to do.

2023-11-02T10:36:44+00:00 Here you are:
- Delete temporary files
Open Run: press Windows key + R
Enter %temp%
Gel rid of the temporary files
Files are located at C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Temp
- Delete the files of the Software Distribution Software
CMD line as administrator:
net stop wuauserv
net stop bits
Windows Update Service and the Background Intelligent will be stopped.
Go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder
Delete all files, maybe some can be in use. In this case, restart the computer and try again.
Once done the never-ending loop of installation of this update will end. If you want to activate updates again:
net start wuauserv
net start bits
- You can download freeware, StopUpdates, much easier.
Good luck!

2023-11-02T08:29:58+00:00 Really wish they would address this problem. I ran all of the suggestions other than reinstalling Win 10 and nothing worked for me either. If the other update work why doesn't this one?
Microsoft will not fix this. You will get untold pages of promises and gibberish, but this update needs to be replaced with one that works. If Microsoft gave a damn about us they'd test updates before sending them out.
I now have an endless loop whereby my PC attempts to install this update every time I reboot.
Thanks for that, Microsoft.
Dear Mike,
I had to use the command console to remove the downloaded installation to prevent it from being installed on reboot. I then paused the installations indefinitely, deleted the files that were left on the disk and solved the problem. From the moment the update was left pending, the laptop would not go into standby correctly, as I said in a previous post, in an early morning reboot I even found the fans off and the computer literally on fire. Now everything works correctly. Of course, I tried all the absurd MS instructions before wasting a lot of time to remove this mess. I don't expect any solution from the company. On the University computers, before it was installed and the same thing happened to me, I stopped all updates. To solve your problem you can use the command console, I have a class right now but I'll try to give you the method I followed later.
Good luck and patience!
