How do I get rid of Copilot?

I don't know what happened other than my computer was unplugged and I plugged it back in. Poor design on the part of the manufacturer. The plug in the back of the machine should be very secure.

But apparently there was some sort of update because the computer got turned off. And something popped up suggesting Bing could do this or do that. Anyway, there is a logo at the bottom of the screen that is distracting and I'd like to get rid of it. Maybe that's all I need to do.

I am sorry to know that you are experiencing this issue. To disable the Copilot, please follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Windows/Start button > Type Settings and open it.
  2. Go to Personalization > Choose Taskbar > Toggle off the Copilot.
  3. Check if the Copilot is disabled or not. It if it is not, please restart your computer and check.

So far Copilot has not made another appearance, nor does it seem to running anywhere on my PC.

    On the general subject of consent: Can you find an end user license agreement for any software, any software at all, that allows the end user to choose or not to choose whatever changes the developer can make to their own software, which they own?

    For that matter, can you find a credit card agreement, or a banking agreement, or a streaming services agreement, to give just a few examples, that allows end users to agree or reject what changes the service provider can make to their own services?

    In all these situations, our choice is to accept the changes or to stop using the product.

    I'm not trying to defend anyone here. I'm only saying that Microsoft is no different than any other service provider. If you want to fight the good fight against service provider agreements, more power to you. However, Microsoft Community is a place where people who use Microsoft software help each other with questions about using that software. And yes, there is an end user agreement here too, and it gives the moderators (I'm not one) the right to lock or even to delete a conversation when it goes off-topic or becomes abusive.
