In Windows 11's built-in virtual desktop feature, there is a high probability that icons of active applications on the current desktop may not be displayed when switching between different virtual desktops. The icons only appear when I click on the respective application. I have attempted to resolve the issue through restarts and using Sfc and Dism for repairs, but the problem persists. An essential configuration to note is that the taskbar is set to display windows only from the current desktop.

2024-03-15T09:36:40+00:00 Removing the animation's worked for me, but it's not very user friendly. If i have similar virtual desktops it's hard to know without transition effects in which desktop i am.

2024-03-14T19:57:58+00:00 I did. Saw that in this thread. Didn't work for me. I did find that when switching desktops if I wait about 2 secs before actually clicking on the desktop I want to activate, it's not as bad. But, after the PC goes to sleep, it almost always does it the first time. I've tried using same wallpaper on every desktop, all Black, etc. Hopefully, it will be fixed soon.

2024-03-14T14:45:10+00:00 Did you turn off animations? It didn't help? I've had no issues since doing that for the past few months. Before that I had it constantly.
Which animations do you recommend I turn off? I've tried that in the past, but maybe with ExplorerPatcher I might have better luck. Can you point me to which animations?

At this point the only possible rationale is that most people are not using multiple desktops so Microsoft does not care. That is the only possible explanation!
