Hi Frank,

If you wish to fix Windows Security, please start a new thread and post the following logs. Post the link to the new thread here.

Step 1:

Step 2:

  • Download defender_diag.bat. Right-click on the file, click Properties, Unblock, and OK. Run the batch file as administrator.

(The Batch file queries Defender-related settings/Policies and outputs the results to a log file named defender.log. Upload this log to your OneDrive and share the link here.)

Those entries have no significance. Those entries show up in my system as well. You'll see a lot of Not Found entries for any operation you do. Usually, most of those entries have no significance.

You may try this if possible.

Download this REG file and save it to a folder named c:\reg\

Launch AdvancedRun (from Nirsoft) and start cmd.exe as TrustedInstaller.

In the TrustedInstaller Command Prompt, run:

  • reg.exe import c:\reg\securityhealth.reg
  • exit

This restores some essential registry keys used by Defender.

    Log is uploaded *******2.log

No error codes. It tries to load and the sheild appears then the screen goes blank. Stays like that for a few minutes then just closes of its own accord.

I tried a repair installation first from an external USB drive that instucted to run from a windows enviroment, When I did that the option to keep files, apps and settings was greyed out. I checked the lanugaue versions current and on USB driveand they both are English UK so thats not the reason for it.

The first time I did a reinstall it was 22H2 now I am running 23H2 and the ISO was created using 23H2. The it was possible to keep Files, apps and setting so I am not sure wahts cahnged.

    Stubborn one this !

Still a blank screen and services.msc cannot make it run either.8

That's strange. We did most of the heavy lifting (the work that Windows Setup is supposed to do automatically), and yet the issue remains. Wonder if a repair installation at this stage will help since we rebuilt most of the settings manually.

If possible, please generate a fresh defender.log and share it. Also, do you get any error code when starting the "Windows Security Service" service?
