Cd drive not detected in windows 11

I am having trouble with DVD/CD-ROM DRIVES after having software installations of windows 11 home. An error message is error code 45. I have checked the device manager and the drives come in out more hidden drives

Thank you all so much. Turns out the drive was shot so I put in a new one and it works perfectly.

Are you able to open and close the CD/DVD drive? What is the make and model of your computer?

In an earlier reply you made you said, "In device manager it shows cd-rom drive but no details". What happens if you select that and perform a right click on it, and then click on Properties?

Hi Steve! Thank you for staying in touch. If, upon entering the BIOS and selecting your DVD drive, it doesn't allow you to perform actions, it might be enabled by default.

I understand your situation, and before purchasing a new DVD drive, please follow the steps below:

Go to Device Manager and locate "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers." Expand the list and proceed to uninstall the drivers listed there. Avoid restarting the PC until all of them have been uninstalled. You can start with the primary channels and finish with the IDE controllers. Upon restarting Windows, these drivers will be automatically reinstalled.

This is an additional support option before considering acquiring a new DVD device. If, even after performing this process, the drive still doesn't appear and you consider it a viable option, you can purchase a DVD reader that connects via USB or an internal drive, depending on your preference.
