2024-09-06T15:14:53+00:00 Agreed, not much has changed. Back in the day (early 2000) I was hacking around with a Red Hat Linux server that was acting as an internet proxy for the cyber cafe I was running. Needed to hack RedHat so it could take the BT Speedway (rebadged Fritz) ISDN card. That needed some drivers from Debian and some mods to the config etcetera. Cut a long story short the backend of RHL was well commented (not done much of this lately it may well still be the same). There was a section in one of the files that claimed the writer was a senior developer at MS. The tag line had me in stiches on the floor.
"isn't it nice to work on an operating system that actually works"
as the Thing used to say in the old Stan Lee comics "nuff said"

2024-09-06T13:29:57+00:00 I am having the same issue:
Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.
Usually this is caused by an incorrect entry in the registry.
Click your Start Button, type regedit and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
Click View and make sure 'Address Bar' is turned on.
Paste this into the Address Bar at the top and hit Enter.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Device Metadata
Please provide a screenshot of that Registry Editor page.
