Accidentally locked my laptop from my Microsoft Account. How to unlock the device

i have the same issue. spectre laptop is locked due to alert from microsoft for security risk. i locked the laptop. now I can not get it reopened. all the links and directions you have given are incorrect and do not work. if you can not get into your computer because it says it is not connected to the internet (which it is) and it says administrator has to unlock (which I am, and cannot do) there is no way to get into the laptop because it will not accept the pin or finger print. so telling me to change a password when I can not even get into the laptop is ridiculous and more than a little frustrating. there is no unlock button as microsoft has stated on find my device.

so tell me please how to unlock my laptop here is what i see:

provide a pin

next screen: administrator has restricted sign in make sure device connected to internet (it is) have admin sign in first

there is no way to get into laptop.

why does microsoft not have a solution to this problem?

and why is it so damn hard to get contact information about microsoft.....

where is there a customer support or tech number to call to deal with these problems.

all you get are more screens with them trying to sell you something....

If you've accidentally locked your laptop via your Microsoft account and you're not seeing an "Unlock" option, here are the steps to unlock your device:

1. Physical Access: Go to your locked laptop. You'll need physical access to your laptop to unlock it.
2. Login Screen: At the login screen, you'll need to enter the password for the Microsoft account that the laptop is linked to. If you have changed your Microsoft account password recently, ensure you're using the latest one.
3. Reset Password: If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it. From the sign-in screen on your laptop, select 'I forgot my password' and follow the prompts. You'll need to verify your identity and then you can enter a new password.
4. Two-step Verification: If you have two-step verification activated, you'll need to provide an additional security code which can be sent to your email, phone number or authenticator app.

After successfully entering your password (and second verification step if applicable), your laptop should be unlocked.

The lock option from Microsoft account is for temporary scenarios where you've left your device unattended and you want to make sure no one else can access it. Once you unlock it from the device itself, it should be back to normal use.

Derrick, more information is needed. How do we unlock our computers when no unlock option exists? I have the same issue. Acer Aspire laptop is locked due to alert from Microsoft for a security risk. I had the laptop locked since it said the device was on the EAST Coast. I live in IOWA. Now I can not get it reopened. all the links and directions you have given are incorrect and do not work. It says an administrator has to unlock (which I am, and cannot do) there is no way to get into the laptop because it does not give the Administrator an option to log in. It will not accept the pin, so telling me to change a password when I cannot even get into the laptop is ridiculous and more than a little frustrating. "Somehow my laptop got a password on it from microsoft. I never did it deliberately. I got assigned an account number but I don't have a password to unlock my laptop, so I can't on my own computer. I am about to have to go to Geek Squad unless someone can help me. I never ever had a password on my laptop which never leaves home since it is only me and my dog. I cannot access anything. I need help to unlock laptop. Why would anyone want something like this? Now the opening screen comes up on my email address but even its password doesn't work. I am having to use my old desktop to write this but because of all the mess Microsoft has caused I cannot get on my main email account."
