Windows 10 22h2 security update [KB5034441] fails to install with code: 0x80070643

Why even push a security update to people if it requires that they scour the internet for ways of making adjustments to system settings in order to install the update? Seems like a like a IT failure or at least a PR failure. Kind of sloppy.

Hi and I found your reply in another forum but I have used Partition Magic to increase the size of the backup partition so as to have 280 spare (30) more than you suggested. When I checked through the command prompt to see if Windows RE is active the shell reports that it is not active. Possibly because I use other backup software however when you check the Backup Partition there is a folder called Windows RE and that contains 3 files as follows; Boot.sdi, reagent.xml and winre.wim so it does exist and since there is adequate space I cannot see why the update won't accept and fails to download, there is no Catalogue file so you can't force the update like I have had to do with a few in the past so every time I log on I get another failed attempt to download.

I am a person of advanced years and I am finding that there are more and more half baked outfits selling themselves as the answer to everyone's prayers and continually short delivering. Please fix this post haste as I am the only technical person capable of making changes to our PCs and I am not sure I am going to be around long enough to see a change in the culture that will give ordinary people a chance. We need these machines just to pay our bills.

You can’t enable Windows RE on a bit locked disk.

The problem is that Windows Update is not performing its due diligence before trying to install the update on systems it shouldn’t.

This worked for me . I used the Media Creation Tool and reinstalled Windows 10 . Microsoft does all the work , All you do is follow the instructions . I did NOT do a clean install . I opted to keep my files and apps but backed them up anyway. It is a time consuming method but you do not have to be a computer expert , because Microsoft does all the technical stuff. I did not read about this at the community . It was another forum for tech issues , but I figured if anyone can fix this then it would be Microsoft ,by installing the latest version of Windows 10 and it did. Try it ! All you have to lose is 5 hours of your life (it's a long process)

I have GB of room on my partition and I still cannot get this to install.
