Windows 10 22h2 security update [KB5034441] fails to install with code: 0x80070643 problem was solved for me with reinstallation of Windows 10 using the Media Creation tool . Took about 5 hours . But the security update that has been giving everyone problems downloaded on the second try . I have , over the last 2 days , been checking for updates to see if it really worked and it appears in the control panel as downloaded . I want to thank that guy who suggested that fix . I did not do a clean install . I kept my files and apps

    Got the update to work as follows:

    1: Turn off bitlocker.

    2: Perform the update and all other updates.

    3: Turn bitlocker back on (you’ll now have two encryption options to select from.).

    I don’t use Windows recovery either. In any case it doesn’t work with Bitlocker turned on (which I do).

    I on the other hand do like to clean install as it cleans out the cobwebs. But naturally you need you use install media you can trust.

    I don’t know why Microsoft is not doing anything to resolve the problems this update has created as it normally does. Especially as in my case with bitlocker enabled it is not a usable feature. I’m guessing it’s because for whatever reason Microsoft really wants everyone to install this particular update. Read into that whatever you will.

    As for your situation. I wonder which edition of Windows 10 you have? Is it the home edition or the pro edition? I am using the Window Pro edition.

    Thanks, my email has exploded into spam proportions.

    I use cclean at every shut down and I get rid of everything.

    I don't like clean installs, because you need to trust the media providers have adequate security so that is not an option.

    Since this update is for those who use Windows 10 for backup and recovery and I as probably many others would not, I use separate software and always have at least 2 hard drive images to choose from on my NAS you would think that someone in Microsoft might just take this update and put it in as optional if you use Windows for backup instal otherwise don't.

    And in answer to I asume that all other updates have well actually nearly all have happened straight from Windows Update, but there have been 2 or 3 that I had to get from the update catalogue over the years, this is the only one that isn't available on the catalogue and it doesn't install either.

    Maybe it’s worth doing a disk clean to clear out all the old failed update attempts?

    Also lookup removing old windows update files and delete those files.

    Maybe creating a recovery disk could help pick up if there are issues in that direction? Try running both with and without system files.

    Other than the above, don’t know what else I can suggest.

    I assume that all other updates have installed without issue?
