Monitor settings randomly change

I've been experiencing an issue with my Philips monitor where the SmartImage feature unpredictably switches to "Racing" mode on its own. Despite manually disabling this setting, it often reactivates itself multiple times until it finally remains off, only to recur upon restarting my PC or monitor. This problem emerged just last week, despite my having used this new PC and monitor setup for nearly a year without any similar issues. I've meticulously reviewed most of the accessible settings without identifying any that could be causing this behavior. Additionally, I've explored the monitor's on-screen menu but found nothing that explains the automatic switch to "Racing" mode, leading me to suspect it might be related to a setting on my PC. However, I've yet to pinpoint exactly what could be triggering this. If anyone has insights or suggestions on how to resolve this, your advice would be immensely valuable.     Hi Chethan,

    Thanks for your message. Unfortunately I just found a workaround for this annoying issue which started for me after February 8th 2024. What I can tell you is that if another application is looking for a pogram (.exe) or dynamic library (.dll) in the directory it cannot execute it. The effects of this I do not know. I am sorry for that. Also your question about the purpose of the HP Telemetry directory (and folder) I cannot answer.

    I have had some contact with HP Support and there might be a change that my research and workaround will make it to the software developers by which we might get some answers. Sorry that this is all I can answer to you.

    I am still without unexpectely changes to 'racing mode' on my Philips 34" monitor model 346E2C.

    Hi Huub,

    Lately after renaming the folder for second time I started observing

    1.Monitor suddenly showed a dark screen like it turned off for a moment

    2.Black boxes started appearing specially while browing websites which was temporay like a glitch

    3.Mouse loading icon near the cursor and somewhat glitch monitor now and then not much

    so I renamed back to original and did not see this later.

    Could you please tell if this has to do anything with changing the folder name.

    What was the actual purpose of telemetry folder and .exe

    For now i have settled for gamer2

    Hi Todd,
    Thanks for your input. My workaround is still providing me the solution I was looking for. My workaround has been described at large in one of the other replies on thread. In my view 99,9% related to the undocumented HP Telemetry software.

    I've been experiencing the same problem for several weeks now. I've had my HP Envy and Philips 28E2 monitor for several year with no issues until recently.

    I tried turning Bluetooth off and on as you did and got the same response - cycling caused my monitor to cycle between my settings an gamer 1 option. I went to the Bluetooth devices window and noticed that when I turn Bluetooth on I get a notice of "generic monitor (PHL 288E2)" as an available device in the Audio section. Since the monitor does not have speakers I quickly selected "remove device" and the screen cycling did not occur.

    Hope this observation helps in some way.
