I've been experiencing an issue with my Philips monitor where the SmartImage feature unpredictably switches to "Racing" mode on its own. Despite manually disabling this setting, it often reactivates itself multiple times until it finally remains off, only to recur upon restarting my PC or monitor. This problem emerged just last week, despite my having used this new PC and monitor setup for nearly a year without any similar issues. I've meticulously reviewed most of the accessible settings without identifying any that could be causing this behavior. Additionally, I've explored the monitor's on-screen menu but found nothing that explains the automatic switch to "Racing" mode, leading me to suspect it might be related to a setting on my PC. However, I've yet to pinpoint exactly what could be triggering this. If anyone has insights or suggestions on how to resolve this, your advice would be immensely valuable. Back on March 10th user chethan bhandarkar mentioned doing an HP bios Device firmware update TBT TitanRidge 4C Ver .01 which triggered the problem. I also noticed most users have HP devices so perhaps the problem is specific to HP devices. There was also a new Community Thread created on April 25th about this problem. This is frustrating and exhausting.
I have HP Omen and Philips monitor too. Could that be somehow linked with the problem?
Well, based on the flurry of posts and descriptions it appears a MS update around March/April 2024 has caused the problem to start (or return in your case). I'm sure MS has shared component updates that are common to Windows 10 and 11, so if the problem surfaces in one OS, it may very likely appear in the other as well. Too many posts are relating this back to a March/April MS OS update for that to be a coincidence. And the users posting about this issue have a mix of video card brands, reducing the likelihood of this being a third-party video card driver issue.
For me personally, I purchased this HP OMEN desktop and 3 Philips monitors ~6 or 7 months ago. Everything worked error-free until 3-6 weeks ago, when this monitor issue suddenly came out of nowhere after an OS update.
I can say that this has been happening to me since I got my monitor, then it stopped for about a year and now the problem has returned.
However I am still running Windows 10 and have never had Windows 11 running on my laptop so I doubt it can be a Win11 issue.
I am experiencing the same exact issue.
I am running Windows 11 and have three Philips 4K monitors. Every time the monitors go to sleep and wake up, each monitor incrementally rotates through multiple view configurations. This wastes 3+ minutes of my time waiting for this cycling to end and then manually resetting each monitor each time the monitors go to sleep, culminating in ~10 minutes of lost productivity every hour I am working. This is unacceptable and started recurring after a Windows 11 update in March 2024.
These monitors are only 6 months old and I don't want to spend another $1800 replacing these monitors to avoid wasted time / reduced productivity from a defective Microsoft OS update.
Microsoft cannot write this off as a "graphics card driver issue" as many users with different brand video cards (AMD, NVIDIA, etc) started experiencing this issue simultaneously after a Windows 11 update in ~March 2024. The ONLY common thread among these reported issues is Microsoft pushing a Windows 11 update.
