Monitor settings randomly change

I've been experiencing an issue with my Philips monitor where the SmartImage feature unpredictably switches to "Racing" mode on its own. Despite manually disabling this setting, it often reactivates itself multiple times until it finally remains off, only to recur upon restarting my PC or monitor. This problem emerged just last week, despite my having used this new PC and monitor setup for nearly a year without any similar issues. I've meticulously reviewed most of the accessible settings without identifying any that could be causing this behavior. Additionally, I've explored the monitor's on-screen menu but found nothing that explains the automatic switch to "Racing" mode, leading me to suspect it might be related to a setting on my PC. However, I've yet to pinpoint exactly what could be triggering this. If anyone has insights or suggestions on how to resolve this, your advice would be immensely valuable.     Like Huub van Baal, I had this same issue, and this was the root: (running an HP Envy desktop)

    C:\ProgramData\HP\Telemetry\collectors\hp-telemetry-peripheral-collector_ver_xxxxxxx\ProcInfo.exe

    Well, now as of the end of November, 2024, ProcInfo.exe has moved to a new folder!

    C:\ProgramData\HP\Telemetry\collectors\hp-telemetry-device-health-state-collector_ver_4.xxxxx

    Now to do the old rename the directory where the ProcInfo.exe file is stored to a different name.

    C:\ProgramData\HP\Telemetry\collectors\OLD__hp-telemetry-device-health-state-collector_ver_4.xxxxx

    Yep, mine has started changing SmartImage settings again and I found HP One Agent running in task manager so I have uninstalled it again!!! I don't remember any recent Windows update so it must have done it during the night if I forgot to turn off the PC? Although my update history isn't showing any new 'optional' updates. Weird.

    Hi Julen,

    Fully agree with your observations. The behavior by which HP software resets the monitor into racing mode also reappeared on my system. In my memories 2 - 3 weeks back. As from other posts not via an HP software update by Optional Updates in Microsoft Update. No this time the hard way.

    I got enjoyed as well and took the hard way to solve it. I followed the comments of another user in this who said 'uninstall HP One Agent' (not jus disable it) which indeed made the racing mode issue to disappear (again).
