GET /eSCL/ScannerStatus HTTP/1.1The question is how do I stop it.

Refresher. I have been on several of these boards since last fall. Just so everyone knows what my situation is:

The HP LaserJet Enterprise M553 is the printer that I am having the issue with. It must use the USB as it cannot function wireless-it does not have the capability. I have had this issue since I upgraded to Windows 11 in the Fall of 2021. I got rid of it once before using someone's suggestion to turn off the messages and that worked for about 3 months. Then we had a power outage in February of 2023 and when everything came back on (even though this laser printer is hooked up to an expensive battery /surge protector) the printer began printing the pages again and it has done it ever since. Sometimes it will wake up in the middle of the night and print out 3 full pages of this error. I have it set to not wake up and it does anyway. Most of the time it will print it out randomly as it sleeps and I wake it when I need to print. If I unplug it over night to conserve paper, it will print one or 2 pages upon restarting. I am unplugging both the power and the USB then plugging them in, in reverse order. I have 2 other inkjet printers that are both HP and both wireless and 2 different models, the HP Officejet Pro 7740 and the HP Officejet 9020 and neither have ever had this issue.

Ok. Someone on here suggested that we need to remove the HP Print/Scan Doctor. I did this and so far, for the last 9 hours, I have not had one wake up printed page or 1 additional page printed when printing from sleep. It was a CHORE trying to get it deleted and I finally had to go through clearing it from the registry and then removing it from the trash bin as well before it was completely gone. Then restart the computer. I noticed someone in the HP forum for REMOVAL of that HPPSD program stated that they had not had an HP printer in years but now had a different brand, I believe it was Epson and they said that the HPPSD was still loaded on their computer and they had no idea how. It will not show in your APPS/ADD/DELETE PROGRAMS. You will need to search for it using your search bar then open it. Once it opens (it usually will have to update) you can use Control-Alt-Delete to open your Task Manager. Find The HPPSD in the Task Manager and right click on it. Once you do this, you can choose to "Open File Location". That will tell you where it is hiding. I went into the Program Files and Program Files (x86) and it was in both of them as HP/ diagnostics. There were copies from printers all the way back to 2010 on there and I have only had this computer for 4 years. I deleted them all then I restarted and checked using "check hidden folders" and made sure all copies were deleted. So far. So good. If it starts up again, I will let you know! Good luck!

I have been wrestling with for months now. I've tried every solution posted here and none of them worked.

I've been working with computers since the early 80s on a machine running MSDos. I have never seen a problem this insidious. I'm using up reams of paper and several ink cartridges, the only solution at this point is to give up my wonderful HP6988 printer because it no longer works on the USB cable. By the way, this is the only printer I ever found that could print a single envelope from the address in a Word letter. I can't run the printer on WiFi.

If Microsoft with all its mighty resources can't solve this, maybe it's time to contact the Vatican and see if we can fix it through an exorcism.

Well, my solution used last night only worked last night. About an hour after I posted my solution to delete HPPSD from the system, it began printing the pages again so it worked for someone else and not me unless they haven't gotten back on here to notify the rest of us. I tested mine for roughly 8.5 hours before posting.

I am not Catholic, but I am willing to convert at this point to save the ink and paper! The cartridges for this laser printer are $375 each! I came in this a.m. and plugged in and it immediately spat out 2 pages full of this nonsense code then when I went to print a real page, it printed the nonsense one page before and one page after. Nothing new, but just frustrating. I have 3 paper trays on this laser and I know which one it pulls from. I insert one of the pages back in and let it print on that same page front/back/upside down multiple times before I discard the page, but I miss it a lot of the time in a rush during the day so it wastes more paper. It is obviously something MS is doing because it is across multiple brands of printers.

if you have an "in" at the Vatican, let me know and I will sign up to get mine exorcised while the bishop/exorcist is here stateside. 😒

This is a real issue and requires a fix ASAP. When computer is awaken the printer prints the following:

Get/eSCL/ScannerStatus HTTP/1.1 Host: localhost

Exactly! But even more troublesome is if you are working on your pc and there is more than 5 minutes or so after you've printed something, the error condition is in the print queue. If you wait a while longer, it actually prints. If you print after, say 5-10 minutes, the error is the first line of your printout.

You can't win in any direction...
