To each his own, as they say. For me, I just leave the printer turned off. When I want to print, I release the job to print but don't press the Print button. I turn on the printer and THEN hit the print button. I can print a number of jobs in a row with no problem that way. As soon as I am done printing. I simply turn off the printer. I don't have to reboot my pc at all. Works like a charm.

Considering the waste of paper doing it any other way not to mention the lost time, I literally only have to wait seconds for the printing to start.

Leave printer turned off at all times. Turn on when print job is set to be released, less than 10 seconds, print, turn off printer when printing done.

It's much more difficult for my daughter at the university. Multiple professors queueing up print jobs from different pcs to assorted shared printers. It's a mess.

This bug has been unresolved for months now. I am not optimistic that Microsoft will fix it anytime soon.

That's a shame! It looks like there is not a one size fits all answer to work around this Windows 11 bug.

It seems like there is a breakdown in the release of a printer after a job is printed. Microsoft clearly changed something but that change disrupted printing. Obviously, I do not know what was in the O/S before Windows 11 printer interface was modified. There have been multiple suggestions that seem to work, for example, on HP printers. I have an annoying but 100% successful workaround on my Epson. All the other suggestions failed for me. And my suggestion failed for you.

From my perspective, a printer does not get reset to ready state after a job is printed. It looks like the printer tells the O/S that it finished a given job and asks if there is another job. If you have another print job, it goes through. But, if there are no more, the printer driver keeps asking for the all clear, as it did in previous versions of the O/S. That release does not come. After some time lapse and repeated requests from the printer driver for the all clear, the error message appears.

For my situation, I merely stop the cycle of requests for the all clear. A job prints fine. I turn off the printer immediately. I need to print. I turn on the printer. It takes a small amount of time but eliminates the failed communication between the printer and the O/S.

Clearly a Microsoft problem. It's been going on for months.

I've tried all suggestions but nothing worked. I've switched my printer off as I'm wasting too much paper.

I'm now using a wireless printer and that's fine.

I don't know if this will help some people but after you have deleted the printer (and any drivers it will let you uninstall) then when you reinstall it, make sure during set up to install the WiFi option and in the printer settings itself, ensure in All Settings>Network that the Wired LAN>Wired Status option is OFF and in WLAN>WLAN Status is showing an active network and the WLAN Enable is set to ON.
