My printer is prompted to print this at the top of pages, usually from drawer #2 which is envelopes. I have an Epson WF-4740. The information on line indicates that this is an across the board problem. I have contacted Epson and they say it is a Microsoft problem. To date I have tried every suggested fix but nothing stops it. Extremely frustrating!!!!

    That sounds great but I do not have WiFi in my shop where printer and computer are. Thanks for trying.

    Try this:

    Windows 11 & 10

    1. Select the Start button then chose Settings.
    2. Select Devices.
    3. Select Printers & scanners.
    4. Scroll down to the Related settings section and select the Print server properties link.
    5. Select the Advanced tab.
    6. Uncheck the following boxes:
      • Show informational notifications for local printers.
      • Show informational notifications for network printers.
    7. Click OK.

    Thanks. I have done that and will see what happens.

    I had gotten to the point where the only way to print without that message was to turn the printer on when I was ready to print and turn it off once I had printed a job. All other permutations and combinations failed.

    It was clear the printer was expecting some notification OR was sending some notification which was not received properly.

    The problem occurred even if I turned on the printer when I booted my pc and did not print anything. The printer would start grumbling and spit out the error without having sent a single print job.

    From my perspective, this is a Microsoft bug in Windows 11 needing a fix and obvious documentation.

    That did not work.

    All was fine for over an hour so I thought the problem was fixed. After my pc went into standby/sleep mode and "woke up", the printer went into the error condition immediately. The changes only work as long as the pc is "awake".

    Turning off the printer completely is, so far, the only thing that works all the time. Turn it on when ready to print. Turn it off when printing is done.

    Thank you for trying to help. It remains a Microsoft problem.

    After reading all the comments, I'm happy to know my computer system isn't demon possessed. Here is what I do to maintain my sanity. I simply leave the paper tray open so it can't print. Whenever I get ready to print something, I shut the tray. The printer screen immediately shows a "Receiving Data" message to which I respond by hitting the stop button. I may have to respond to 2-4 prints that are in que but that's a small inconvenience compared to rebooting my computer or going into software settings. I'm sure MS is aware and I'm optimistic that they're working on it in spite of ghosting all of us while they do.
