GET /eSCL/ScannerStatus HTTP/1.1The question is how do I stop it.

My printer is prompted to print this at the top of pages, usually from drawer #2 which is envelopes. I have an Epson WF-4740. The information on line indicates that this is an across the board problem. I have contacted Epson and they say it is a Microsoft problem. To date I have tried every suggested fix but nothing stops it. Extremely frustrating!!!!

End.

    Thanks Mary

Mine seems to start doing this as soon as I turn on the computer in the morning or bring it back from standby.

I haven't even tried to print anything at all it just starts printing the message "GET /ESCL/ScannerStatus HTTP/1.1" 3 or 4 times and uses up 3 or 4 sheets of paper in the process. I must have wasted 10 sheets of paper today, its ridiculous.

I don't want to have to keep turning the printer off - Microsoft need to fix the bug in their win 11 update that caused this.

Well, I have a couple of ideas for you, especially since you have an Epson printer. Early on in this nightmare, I checked the print queue and found about 15 old print jobs that had been done successfully just sitting in the queue. I was getting a different error but I wonder if you might have the same problem.

Clearly, Microsoft Windows 11 is not communicating properly with printers.

The other thing I noticed in your posting was that you referred to your printer in "standby" mode. That does not work at all.

So, try this. Go to the Control Panel and check that your print queue is empty. Clear out any documents that might be there. Return the printer to "Home". Turn the printer OFF. Reboot your pc.

Now for the test. Power up your pc. Don't touch the printer. Select a test document. Now turn your printer on. Release your document to print. There may be a slight delay but your document should print.

Now check OK on the keypad of the printer and turn the printer OFF once the home screen displays on the printer. Do that immediately. Don't let any time pass.

Wait 10 minutes or so. Leave your pc on. Now get another document or the same one, turn on the printer and print the document. This sequence is the only sequence that works for me: you must turn your printer OFF, not leave it in standby mode after you finish printing anything. You can print several documents in a row but if more than a couple of minutes pass before you want to print again, you will get that error message.

When you turn off your pc at the end of the day, make sure you turn off the printer too.

It's a pain but it's the only way I could get rid of that error message. Windows 11 is not releasing the printer correctly.

I have temporally fixed the problem by removing the USB connection & printing via WiFi. Every page is now clean & the printer is running as it should. USB issue ?????

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I did not mean that this problem occurs when the printer wakes from standby - it occurs when the computer waked from standby.

I think I have now finally resolved my problem...

I have 2 printers attached to my computer via USB leads- an HP Laserjet which I use the most and so have it set as my default printer and have had no problems with and an Epson XP-900 which was the one which was continuously printing this silly message ever since the WIN 11 upgrade.

On the advice from another forum I set my Epson XP-900 as the default printer and so far the problem has stopped altogether! The old HP Laserjet hasn't yet started printing the status message so I think its all resolved.

I just need to remember not to print to the Epson colour printer when I only need black and white etc but I guess I will get used to that.

Thanks for the clarification. My pc is connected directly to the internet, my preference for performance and security. I will test the USB variation you mentioned in an earlier post and see if it makes a difference on the Epson 4100. I also have an Epson XP 6000 that has the same problem. At my daughter's university, where she is a professor, the pcs are connected directly to the internet with a USB adapter. There are multiple types of printers there and they all have this problem.

My 4100 printer is the default so, for me, that doesn't solve the problem.
