Update: the task library fix only worked for a day. Then the GET/scanner status started printing even more, like 5x per hour instead of 5 times per day. I followed many suggestions from this forum and Google. I just started to troubleshoot and problem solve because most of the suggestions did not work for me.
This issue was in an office setting with multiple computers/printers/scanners connected to the network. The issue was only happening with one HP computer that had a stand alone Lexmark MS823 printer connected by USB, epson DT780 scanner connected by USB and Epson smart tank connected wirelessly. The scanner status was printing on the Lexmark printer that didn’t have a scanner.
I deleted the epson scan 2 app which did nothing. I deleted the Lexmark drivers and re-downloaded which did nothing. Then I decided to go into the installed apps and see if maybe the HP doctor app had somehow auto-installed… There was nothing in there so I just started uninstalling any apps that seemed unnecessary. I deleted a bunch of the HP apps that were not related to the CPU or Network functionality and that worked. The annoying get/scanner status page finally stopped printing. Please be careful when doing this because on a different occasion I accidentally deleted the app that allowed the computer to connect to wireless networks and was never able to restore that app so the computer became useless.
I’m not sure if this is really a Microsoft issue but I assume it was something that auto-installed with a Microsoft update for HP. Sometimes when you download adobe, the McAfee auto installs and McAfee is the worst, it causes the computer to go haywire. That’s what this felt like but McAfee was not installed on this computer. I have seen people in this forum say they had this issue with dell so I don’t want to say it’s HP but deleting all of those unnecessary HP apps did the trick for me.
