My printer is prompted to print this at the top of pages, usually from drawer #2 which is envelopes. I have an Epson WF-4740. The information on line indicates that this is an across the board problem. I have contacted Epson and they say it is a Microsoft problem. To date I have tried every suggested fix but nothing stops it. Extremely frustrating!!!!

I have a Brother printer and this is what the Brother website said to do. It should apply to other brands of printers since this is a general printer settings on Windows 11.

I started seeing this on my Epson printer just a few days ago and I'm still on Windows 10. The Task Scheduler Library on my software doesn't show an option for "Epson".
I've had this same issue with my Brother printer for a while.
After hearing that it seems to only happen with printers connected via USB I was going to hard wire it to my network. I kept putting it off and then the problem just went away!
I wasn't paying enough attention but I'm guessing that some Windows 11 update from Microsoft in the past couple of months fixed it! Or at least seems to have fixed it for me.
Hopefully it doesn't come back with the next update! Usually that's an Apple thing to fix an issue and for it to then return later :-(.

I don't think it's a USB thing. I believe it has something to do with printers that have scanner capabilities. I have a $50 Canon printer that I use to run duplicate bridge games. It does not have scanning. When I use it, it is connected via USB. It's just plain old Windows 11 with no extra software other than the scoring program. The printer works fine, even after being left idle for long periods.
On the other hand, my printer(s) that have scanning capabilities, all have the problem. They are also connected via USB so, from my perspective that knocks USB out of the equation.
Something happened in Windows 11 when it knows it is connected to a scanning capable printer, I think. The message refers to a problem with scanning. It doesn't happen with a bare bones printer. Whatever modifications were made to the printing modules(s-).dlls, Windows branches into scanning code when it's connected to scanner capable printers. After every print job, it appears to be looking for messages from the printer about looking to see if there is a scan job coming. The printer doesn't replay because it has no idea what Windows is now doing. Windows now falls flat on its face, rather than returning the printer to an idle state and letting the printer activate scanning. When a print job is done, Windows should just release the printer. Period.
For what it's worth. I still turn the printer off. When I forget to do that, paper and ink are wasted.

I can tell you that it definitely has nothiing to do with printers with scanner capabilities because there are 3 HP printers hooked up to my computer and only one must be connected via USB and that one printer does NOT have scanner capabilities or fax or copy so it definitely has nothing to do with a scanner and it is the ONLY printer I have that has printed this error for 2 years now. I know for a fact that MS has taken responsibility for this as far back as October 2023 and clearly states that it is due to their Windows 11 software but there are people on here who do not have Windows 11. I am willing to bet that some Windows 10 updates post Windows 11 are installing the same HP Scan Doctor software that everyone including non HP owners are finding on their computers. I am not tech savvy enough to know whether that is a possibility or not. Once I applied Daniel 1's solution, it fixed the problem. It has only returned one time when Windows did an update and I simply went back in and applied the same "repair" Daniel 1 suggested and it has not returned.
