As this is a VERY LONG discussion thread, you may not have seen this solution which worked perfectly for me (Win 11, Epson XP-4100 printer). Note that ALL the changes are made in Windows settings, not in your printer software:

| To resolve this issue, turn off the Windows print notifications for local printers:<br><br>1. Open Settings.<br><br>2. Click Bluetooth & Devices.<br><br>3. Click Printers & scanners.<br><br>4. Scroll down until you get to the "Related settings" category. Click Print server properties.<br><br>5. Click the Advanced tab.<br><br>6. Remove the check from Show informational notifications for local printers.<br><br>7. Click Apply → OK.<br><br>- If the message no longer appears, then the issue is resolved.<br><br>- If the message continues to appear, do the following:<br><br>Since this is a Microsoft-related issue, we recommend that you report the problem to Microsoft to assist them in providing a possible solution.<br><br>Alternatively, since these cases affect USB connections to the printers, if your machine is equipped with networking options, disconnect the USB cable and connect the machine wirelessly or by ethernet (if available). |
Unfortunately, half of the responses in this thread are due to this "solution" being offered. It will work for a short while, and then you will notice that it no longer works. Has happened to all of us. It either works immediately for a short period of time or it doesn't work at all from the start. Then people simply repost this as a solution without going back through the thread pages to look to see that THIS has been offered multiple times and does not work.
I looked it up again last week to see if there are any solutions using the terms "microsoft recognizes issue with windows 11 and printers" in my search engine and MS has acknowledged as of October 2023 that there is an issue and it is THEIR issue. It states that apparently the HP app is being installed on printers that aren't HP which no one in this thread has mentioned yet, that I have seen. I found several, but a good looking solution offered, that I have not attempted yet so I don't know if it is a real solution or a "threat" download from a website who is nefarious. The website was called TechRadar so proceed with caution. I DID NOT LOOK THEM UP ANY FURTHER because I forgot about it before today, but it suggests that MS has offered a totally separate repair tool install rather than a patch (which is strange in itself) and that is why I haven't tried it yet. The website refers to it as Microsoft Megadata Troubleshooter so again, proceed with caution. I am neither recommending this or stating that it is a solution, just something I have seen and have yet to try because I am not tech savvy enough to know if it is bad or not.
