GET /eSCL/ScannerStatus HTTP/1.1The question is how do I stop it.

I tried several of the solutions offered on this page & think I have finally found an answer. Since I made these changes, the excess printing of the Status banner has stopped printing. I have an Epson WF-4840 printer.

In Settings:

Task Manager -> Task Scheduler Library -> Epson WF-4820

If I click on the Epson WF-4820 from the Task Scheduler Library (in the box to the right), it opens another screen of General, Triggers, Actions, Conditions, Settings, History. The General tab says the Epson searches for software updates, notify when updates available, etc. The Triggers tab says how often to check for those software updates. The Triggers tab was set to search hourly. I edited the Trigger setting to Monthly, on the 15th of every month. I have not have the printing issue since making the edit.

I hope this information helps someone else - it was such a frustrating issue & I'm glad it finally stopped.

I've just been looking back. There are 47 pages of comments about the same issue, stretching back more than a year. Yet almost nothing from Microsoft. If you read the comments its clear this isn't just a USB issue. It's not one type of printer - it's many. The recommended fix of deselecting the local printer notification doesn't always work. This is something Microsoft need to address, but there's little evidence of them doing so.

I just bought a Brother printer, connected it via USB and this irritating scannerstatus printing started. I thought it was a Brother problem. I then read it might be a USB problem, so I disconnected it from USB. The scannerstatus printing stopped. BUT immediately started up again on my Epson wireless printer! I've had the Epson for two years and never had this occur.

This is May 2024, long after most of these posts were complaining.

With both types of printers affected, one being wireless only, I can't imagine this is a printer problem.

Please Microsoft....

NOT a user problem. My ET-4750 started doing this a few days ago and I've tried all the steps and none work. It has worked fine for the several years I've had it. I now have to turn my printer off until I want to print something and it prints that on the top of the page. Frustrating.

Could you give more detailed step by step instructions on the 2cnd solution you offered? I have to follow it but can't get to the same place after pulling up control panel. Thank you!
