GET /eSCL/ScannerStatus HTTP/1.1The question is how do I stop it.

My problem seems to have been my HP printer which I still use and I did the 2 steps that was posted disabled HP Print Scan Doctor Service and Remove the check from Show informational notifications for local printers. and my Epson hasn't printed out the scanner status at all.

This has been very intriguing. For the longest time, I thought the problem was with the printer not getting a notification to return to idle state. I'm changing my opinion.

Throughout this thread, I applied all the suggested fixes: I had had an HP printer, disabled that file, disabled notifications, reinstalled the latest drivers, etc., etc. Nothing worked. And then the wifi with usb suggestion popped up.

I have a Dell Inspiron 16 2-1 laptop seemingly connected directly to my internet cable. But wait, the Dell does not have an RS232 port so the "direct" cable actually is connected to a usb dongle! I have wifi turned off. I decided to test turning on wifi on the Dell and what do you know? Message gone. Initially, I was not happy because my work pc is located on the other side of my house from the router. I need good response time. I turned off wifi on the Dell and the message is still gone. Hmmm.

I did a hard reboot. Still no error message. I consider it a communications issue but some combination of having a usb device connecting the printer directly to a pc and using wifi flips something in the operating system and clears the condition causing the error. I only had to do that once. I have subsequently turned off wifi on my Dell and the error is still completely gone.

Yes, it is a Microsoft problem but it's obviously tricky. What role, i.e. what dlls are involved, in communicating with printers using wifi versus communicating with printers connected via usb. And why did my Dell fail every suggested solution but is now functioning fine after a single wifi connection and print job submission? I'm not using wifi at all now but there is a link to usb in the operating system that has now fixed the communication between the printer and my pc.

Do you know if the customer had an HP installed previously?

 

Please try the following two suggestions one at a time.

 

 

Suggestion 1) Disable any HP or other manufacturer services

1. On the keyboard press Windows Key +R
2. Type in services.msc
3. Find any other manufacturer service and disable them. (HP Print Scan Doctor Service,  HP Network Devices Support)

 

Suggestion 2) Disable Windows local notifications

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Bluetooth & Devices.
3. Select Printers & scanners.
4. Scroll down to Related settings section, then select Print server properties.
5. Select the Advancedtab.

6. Remove the check from Show informational notifications for local printers.

7. Select OK.

So far so good hasn't printed out on it's own in a week.

1 - I tried the Sleep Mode instructions. Didn't work. Others thoughts?

2 - The printer status print issue did resolve! I didn't have access to the granular setting mentioned, and I had downloaded and installed the print driver for Windows 11 (Epson web site). Didn't work at first, BUT when an impending Windows update just hobbled my machine the next morning, I relented and did the update. Printing issue fixed! I've only printed 1 document, so I hope that wasn't a fluke.

3 - Other issue - Applying colors to Active Window Title Bar . . . Doesn't work. Only the thinnest of borders displays, and frankly, it's so thin it's pointless. I've done the Preferences Color setting multiple times. Nothing. Active window title bar remains a pallid Windows grey. I notice there's NO 'Apply' or 'Save' button in the Preferences interface. Could that be the issue? I typically have 5 windows/ apps open at any time. Having a noticeable color on the active title bar eases visual navigation! I've used this feature for years.
