My printer is prompted to print this at the top of pages, usually from drawer #2 which is envelopes. I have an Epson WF-4740. The information on line indicates that this is an across the board problem. I have contacted Epson and they say it is a Microsoft problem. To date I have tried every suggested fix but nothing stops it. Extremely frustrating!!!!

End.

So interesting. I had deleted the HP item long ago and it did nothing. The only thing that worked for me was the combination of USB and Wifi.

Since this affects so many different printers, it would seem to be something communicating to printers, in general. The error message implies a communications breakdown. Of all the printers, did any pcs connected directly to a port on the printer have a problem? I suspect not.

There were some messages questioning usb. For me, I had problems with what I erroneously thought was a direct connect to my internet. In fact, my direct internet cable, which used to have a port on the pc, is now connected to a usb 3.0 Lan/Gigabit device that, in turn, connects to a multi slot Targus usb dongle.

After I unplugged the internet link and used Wifi, the error went away. Then, after re-connecting the internet physical link, the error is still resolved. The HP thing may have a part in this but I disabled that over a year ago.

It would be interesting but, of course not possible, to get the configurations of all the pcs getting this error. It is so stubborn that maybe we are all looking in the wrong direction. What is common in Windows for sending messages back to the pc between direct connections and usb or pcs using wifi and usb? And Windows version seems to have a role too.

Well, after doing all the other suggestions that did not work, I deleted/uninstalled the HP printer software and it seems to have worked. Strange.

This issue resolved for me as soon as I removed HP Smart from my computer.

This may sound stupid but here's what I do with my Brother Color Laser HL-3270CDW printer, USB connection: When I start work in the morning, before printing anything, I walk over to it, press the red X button and it clears the data. May have to do that once in a while during the day after a long idle period.

This problem had gone away until the latest Windows 11 update on June 26, 2024 and a firmware update to the printer on the same day so it's unclear whose fault this is.
