My printer is prompted to print this at the top of pages, usually from drawer #2 which is envelopes. I have an Epson WF-4740. The information on line indicates that this is an across the board problem. I have contacted Epson and they say it is a Microsoft problem. To date I have tried every suggested fix but nothing stops it. Extremely frustrating!!!!

End.

I will be the first to admit, I have zero idea half of what you just typed so I am NOT tech savvy, but I know enough to know that if it is happening across several platforms, devices, it definitely is not a "me" problem, but a "you" problem. "You" being MS if it was hitting that many different brands/systems that require USB to perform then common sense would say it is MS.

I did see someone mention that they also had an Epson and instead of using DanielPratt1's suggestion to click on the HP files to click the Epson files similarly named and others went in and renamed those to begin with "temp", I think? I don't know if you saw that but if you didn't, worth a try.

I think some people think they are smarter than others. Snarky post was simply ridiculous. If they weren't having this issue, how did they land on this page? Lol because they obviously have the issue, the solutions provided didn't work for them so they thought they would throw some shame at the rest of us. Sorry. My tech guy tried many times to get rid of it and couldn't figure it out because the only printer it affects is a laser printer that has no scanner so he was unable to fix it. He had several other companies he contracts with that were having the same issue if the printer was USB connected HP or other brand.

MaryMcIntyre, I hope you are able to find some help on this. I hate that this solution doesn't work for all of us, which is also indicative that it is an MS issue...if we all installed it the software wrong then the one solution should have fixed it, right. ;)

Best of luck and if you are able to get it to quit, be sure to hop back on and let others know what you did!

Thanks, WildeKatz. I couldn't believe my eyes with that snarky post. I am a retired IT person. I know how to install software. Honestly.

This is a Microsoft problem. It affects a variety of printers, not just Epson. None of the solutions that have been offered have worked for me. For me, it's a question of Windows not recognizing end of job and releasing the printer. The scanner is not even being used.

You can encounter anomalies when custom software overwrites a Microsoft dll. Printer vendors know not to overlay Microsoft dlls. I do have one software package that is specialized and prints a lot. However, I also have that same package on a Surface Pro that only uses WiFi. I run that program with a basic Canon printer that is not scanner capable. I do not have the problem on that printer.

Turning off the printer at the end of a print job is the only solution that works for me.

So far so good, this has worked for me - thank you!

    Mike

You are welcome! The credit goes to DanielPratt1 though. :) I Just reposted his suggestion. I am glad I was able to repost Daniel's suggestion though and it helped you. :)

There was another post a few threads up that listed changing the names of the files to "temp". That is above my pay grade so I didn't try it, but maybe you can scroll back through and see if it works for you. Many found relief with that who didn't find it with DanielPratt1's fix. I hope you find something either way! This absolutely is the biggest waste of money!

Someone fixed something but it wasn’t me. My problem just stopped occurring

Don’t know what happened but I’m grateful

    Sorry I can’t share a fix

Mine would do that occasionally as well , but I was never lucky enough it would stick for more than a couple weeks so I hope yours does. Maybe there was an update and I didn't realize it and it fixed it for everyone. Either way, good on you that you got some relief from the ink and paper waste! fingers crossed it sticks!
