Windows 11 two accounts sign in issue

I am using Windows 11 Home.

Whenever I start/restart my computer there are two login shown, both with the same name. I believe one is a local account (generic icon), the other has my icon I assigned to my Microsoft account. I have recently changed my email address and updated the address on my Microsoft account.

Every time I start/restart the computer it defaults to the generic icon with my old email as the user name and asks for a password. I have tried entering my password and it says that the user name or password is incorrect. I also tried correcting the email to my new email, enter my Microsoft password but it still says that is incorrect. I then have to click the login with my assigned icon and enter my PIN.

Today I checked my Microsoft account and removed the old email from recovery but the problem continues.

Is there a way to remove this generic account? Or have it be the same as my Microsoft account? I just want to type in my PIN.

    Concerning NO OTHER ACCOUNTS right click hit terminal then type NETPLWIZ.. when users do not have to use password to log in- either remove or check the check-mark box hit apply then check or remove the check-mark the box again and hit apply again.. shut down then power on again..... let me know..

    Microsoft will stop support for WINDOWS !) on October of 2025, so you won't have a choice (unless you use without support)

    Same. Why is Microsoft turning out **** they we have to deal with and figure out how to fix on our own?

    For those having this same issue. This is due to auto sign in is configured wrong.

    First, go to Settings > Accounts > Sign in options, scroll down to mid page, Make sure "For improved security, only allow Windows Hello Sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device (Recommended). " is turned OFF.

    1. Type netplwiz in the search on the taskbar and press enter, select your user, if the "user must enter a username and password to use this computer" box is NOT checked, please check it , click Apply.

    Restar the computer. Problem should be solved.
