I am using Windows 11 Home.
Whenever I start/restart my computer there are two login shown, both with the same name. I believe one is a local account (generic icon), the other has my icon I assigned to my Microsoft account. I have recently changed my email address and updated the address on my Microsoft account.
Every time I start/restart the computer it defaults to the generic icon with my old email as the user name and asks for a password. I have tried entering my password and it says that the user name or password is incorrect. I also tried correcting the email to my new email, enter my Microsoft password but it still says that is incorrect. I then have to click the login with my assigned icon and enter my PIN.
Today I checked my Microsoft account and removed the old email from recovery but the problem continues.
Is there a way to remove this generic account? Or have it be the same as my Microsoft account? I just want to type in my PIN.

I have the same problem, please help! No other account to delete, when restarting I get a sorry can not log you in, try again later, and then it loads 2 identical log in names at the bottom left. 1 with a pin, and another above that asks for user name, {which I guess is the problem one.}
I'm lost here, please assist.
I never created another account either. It is very frustrating because I was recently hacked by a Microsoft scam and wiped my hardrive but am I completely safe and removed all the malware? Who knows because Microsft is totally usesless on helping their customers.
windows 11 sucks big time. i will not change my w10 system to this ****!
I had the same problem with the two usernames, but found that my problem was using my 4 digit PIN in the netplwiz window instead of my actual password for my Microsoft account. Once I tried it again with the password instead of the PIN the second account disappeared and I was able to get to my desktop without entering my PIN or password.
