Windows 11 two accounts sign in issue

I am using Windows 11 Home.

Whenever I start/restart my computer there are two login shown, both with the same name. I believe one is a local account (generic icon), the other has my icon I assigned to my Microsoft account. I have recently changed my email address and updated the address on my Microsoft account.

Every time I start/restart the computer it defaults to the generic icon with my old email as the user name and asks for a password. I have tried entering my password and it says that the user name or password is incorrect. I also tried correcting the email to my new email, enter my Microsoft password but it still says that is incorrect. I then have to click the login with my assigned icon and enter my PIN.

Today I checked my Microsoft account and removed the old email from recovery but the problem continues.

Is there a way to remove this generic account? Or have it be the same as my Microsoft account? I just want to type in my PIN.

    No longer experiencing this: I am just experiencing this now after a recent system update on my Surface. I had a user profile for myself as the admin and one for my husband as a local user. We used to be able to click on the Windows icon and toggle between accounts and now, I only see my husband's account and his account is now the admin. ???? I tried doing a system restore thinking I had activated that when I got my computer, but hadn't so, the only restore point I had was yesterday when the update was done. I tried the system restore using the earliest point from yesterday, but it didn't change anything. It would have worked had I had an earlier restore point from the day before. I tried creating another local user for myself last night and today, it's not there. Is there any way to recover my profile, so that when we open our computer, we see both our profiles and can select which one we want to use? Thanks to anyone who can provide some help.

    Hello, try this:
    go to Start -> Settings -> Accounts -> Sign-in options

    in Additional settings tab find "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish settings up after an update" -> put Off

    I have no/no other user. My Windows 11 sign in screen shows my name twice -- one with a notice of an "invalid password" and a request to "please try again." The other is with a PIN, which I can enter and move to the desktop screen. I refuse to be continue playing these stupid games with MS about these Mickey Mouse security idiocies. Why do I have to do anything to be able access my desktop screen at all. Before Windows !! I was able do this without having to enter a PIN or password or anything. HOW DO I REMOVE THE DUPLICATIVE NAME FROM WINDOWS SIGN IN SCREEN WITH THE 'INVALID PASSWORD" NOTICE? AGAIN, I REPEAT THERE ARE NO OTHER USERS, THERE ARE NO OTHER ACCOUNTS, WORK, SCHOOL, OR OTHERWISE. WHAT GIVES HERE?
