Windows 11 two accounts sign in issue

I am using Windows 11 Home.

Whenever I start/restart my computer there are two login shown, both with the same name. I believe one is a local account (generic icon), the other has my icon I assigned to my Microsoft account. I have recently changed my email address and updated the address on my Microsoft account.

Every time I start/restart the computer it defaults to the generic icon with my old email as the user name and asks for a password. I have tried entering my password and it says that the user name or password is incorrect. I also tried correcting the email to my new email, enter my Microsoft password but it still says that is incorrect. I then have to click the login with my assigned icon and enter my PIN.

Today I checked my Microsoft account and removed the old email from recovery but the problem continues.

Is there a way to remove this generic account? Or have it be the same as my Microsoft account? I just want to type in my PIN.

    The 1st part of this worked, but as soon as i tried the no pw/pin, it reverted back to how it was.

    SOLUTION!

    type "netplwiz" on search bar. and check "users must enter a username and password to use this computer."

    hit Apply. Then Restart

    In my case, the login suddenly changed from local to Microsoft account login. Even though my wifi is on, and showing "connected", I couldn't login using my Microsoft account. The error says "it looks like you are not connected to the internet...".

    So, I can't login to access windows settings to implement your suggested solution.

    Is there a way to solve this?

    I recently posted that the issue stopped when I got a Win update, but the next time I restarted, I was back. So there is no realistic solution.
