Windows 11 two accounts sign in issue

I got it fixed finally! And there was clearly some confusion but I found a solution, other than the ones here, that worked for me.

1. in the netplwiz thing (win+R) I checked the box that says "users must enter etc etc..."
2. I rebooted my pc, I now only had 1 account left.

If you want to now auto-login:

1. Go to settings - accounts - sign in options and SETUP A PIN (or fingerprint)
2. Go back to netplwiz and UNCHECK the before mentioned checkbox. You will get prompted with an autologin popup where you have to enter your password to uncheck the box.
3. Reboot
4. This worked for me. I now have 1 account and no pw/pin needed to login

seriously.. has someone resolved this? I have the same issue and these suggestions seem to be for local accounts or other windows 11 versions

Note: this was asked and might be important: this was done on a PC with the original Win11 system, not a Win10 updated to Win11. I don't know if this will work with an updated Win10 OS.

That said...

I think I've got the solution. It worked for me, hopefully it works for you and everyone else.

(My situation was my Local account was showing as the 1st sign-in option and wouldn't accept the password. I had to move over to my Microsoft account and click that every time. I'm the only user and prefer to bypass any PIN/password sign-in. The instruction below solved the issue)

I used the Google machine a LOT and put a few different ideas together from multiple Microsoft Support pages and Reddit. Here's what I did (don't worry, it's SUPER easy and fast):

Start - Settings - Accounts - Sign-in Options.

Scroll down to see Additional Settings. Look for "Use my sign-in information to automatically finish setting up after update". Toggle this to Off

Restart

If the above worked, it should have prompted you to sign-in with your admin account (mine is the Microsoft/hotmail account that gives me access to my Microsoft account page).

If you want to keep a PIN or password as a required step to access Windows, stop here. The stuff below is a log into Windows w/out a PIN/password "how to".

It you want to go a step further and stop the need for a PIN/password sign-in, read on.

Start - Settings - Accounts - Sign-in Options.

Go to PIN and make sure it's disabled (if it's enabled, disable it).

If the PIN sign-in is disabled, go to Password. If it says "You're all set up", leave it. You want that option enabled.

Go to Windows search/magnifying glass. type netplwiz and right click to run as administrator.

In the window that opens, if you have more than one account showing, click the one you want Windows to log into without a password.

Uncheck "Users must enter a username and password..."

Restart (heck, do it two or three times to make yourself grin that your stupid Microsoft nightmare is over)

Voila, you're done.! You're where you want to be with no need to enter a silly password.

No longer experiencing this: I am just experiencing this now after a recent system update on my Surface. I had a user profile for myself as the admin and one for my husband as a local user. We used to be able to click on the Windows icon and toggle between accounts and now, I only see my husband's account and his account is now the admin. ???? I tried doing a system restore thinking I had activated that when I got my computer, but hadn't so, the only restore point I had was yesterday when the update was done. I tried the system restore using the earliest point from yesterday, but it didn't change anything. It would have worked had I had an earlier restore point from the day before. I tried creating another local user for myself last night and today, it's not there. Is there any way to recover my profile, so that when we open our computer, we see both our profiles and can select which one we want to use? Thanks to anyone who can provide some help.
