I have upgraded to Windows 11 24H2 (26100.712) and am having issues with getting my USB Audio systems to stay awake. Whenever there is no sound playing, my USB audio system turns itself off, thinking that there is no power to the USB port that it's connected to.
I've changed the setting in advanced power options to disable selective suspend, but this does not do anything. I've also disabled powering down the drive setting in Device Manager (for USB ports), and still no luck.
My machine is pretty much useless as a work machine now, as my USB audio (Bose Companion 5) system turns off within minutes of no audio, silencing my machine so I'm unable to hear notifications or calls.
This bug has only happened since installing 24H2, I've checked device manager and there seems to have been new drivers installed with this update, so potentially some changes there.

Perhaps helpful;
I discovered that you can return to 23H2 within 10 days after installation of 24H2
See Start, Windows Update -> Advanced options -> Extra options /recover Downgrade.
It solved my problems for the moment.
I also saw on my computer that Microsoft made 23H2 (in windows update) available again.
Since my return to 23H2: no problems anymore.

Microsoft, I have the same issue. Bose Companion 5 speakers go to sleep (yellow) after a minute or two, then to off (red). Only happened after upgrading to Windows 11. I've tried removing the driver and reinstalling to no avail. Clearly a Microsoft issue. We need a fix... can't keep pushing the "on" button every 60 sections to get sound notifications.
Hello, Well, i have a paliative fix right now. The problem is most when something is connected via USB-C, I connected my device through a USB-A hub, and forced a different driver version 20.42.11265.1. through the DEVICE MANAGER menu from Windows. And searching manually in the Windows Catalog drivers (You can search INTEL SMART SOUND USB AUDIO) and can find it. Sort for the newer one, and find the version for Windows 11 24H2. After that you must clean the drivers data from windows, because Windows tries to rollback to the version 10.29.0.9677 (That causes the problem).Ok...So, that's my solution for now, i hope that can help other people.BTW. Doing a clean installation of Windows 11 24H2 won't help.Thank you,Sebastian Torcida
I have the same problem with the same Bose USB speakers
I also have the Bose Companion 5 (two sets). On 11/22/24 my PC was updated to 24H2. No more sound. I had to revert back to an earlier version and pause updates for five weeks. And I hope it is fixed by then. But not by BOSE. Calling them and I get that it is not their problem.
