I have upgraded to Windows 11 24H2 (26100.712) and am having issues with getting my USB Audio systems to stay awake. Whenever there is no sound playing, my USB audio system turns itself off, thinking that there is no power to the USB port that it's connected to.
I've changed the setting in advanced power options to disable selective suspend, but this does not do anything. I've also disabled powering down the drive setting in Device Manager (for USB ports), and still no luck.
My machine is pretty much useless as a work machine now, as my USB audio (Bose Companion 5) system turns off within minutes of no audio, silencing my machine so I'm unable to hear notifications or calls.
This bug has only happened since installing 24H2, I've checked device manager and there seems to have been new drivers installed with this update, so potentially some changes there.

- Fixed: A USB audio device might stop working after your PC is idle for a short time.
But absolutely hasn't for me. Still getting the same symptoms.

2025-03-10T15:10:41+00:00 Yup, same here. Not fixed at all. In fact, it has gotten worse. I turn on my laptop, and the speakers work fine, then all of a sudden, they decide to stop and I get an error message "USB device not recognized" which is strange because they were just working?

Windows 11 24H2 is a joke at this point. I wish I could go back to 23H2.

2025-03-15T01:23:44+00:00 Same issue here. I thought I was going crazy. As soon as I stop playing a song/video, just a minute later my Bose USB-connected speakers turn off thinking the PC is off. I need to manually re-enable them before every attempt at playing music/any sound. I'm afraid my sound system will die on me from so many attempts at restarting it.
I've discovered (an unsustainable) workaround in constantly playing a long mp3 file on repeat that produces no sound. It prevents the system from shutting down my speakers, albeit it's annoying and unnecessarily wastes resources.
I keep on reading about 24H2 being very messy, but because of how significant this issue is, I really hope it's prioritized for addressing. I'm concerned as I've just gotten the 24H2 update, but this issue was first reported last year (!), and is seemingly still an issue.
The latest update did not address the underlying cause (Windows putting USB speakers into stand-by if no sound is playing, and it permanently shuts down many such speaker sets that do not re-engage when PC tries to make them play sound again. Needing to be manually turned on first, which is extremely frustrating).
