Windows 11 24H2 USB Audio Issues (timing out)

I have upgraded to Windows 11 24H2 (26100.712) and am having issues with getting my USB Audio systems to stay awake. Whenever there is no sound playing, my USB audio system turns itself off, thinking that there is no power to the USB port that it's connected to.

I've changed the setting in advanced power options to disable selective suspend, but this does not do anything. I've also disabled powering down the drive setting in Device Manager (for USB ports), and still no luck.

My machine is pretty much useless as a work machine now, as my USB audio (Bose Companion 5) system turns off within minutes of no audio, silencing my machine so I'm unable to hear notifications or calls.

This bug has only happened since installing 24H2, I've checked device manager and there seems to have been new drivers installed with this update, so potentially some changes there.

    I believe I'm having the same issue here - I have a USB DAC (Dragonfly Black) that I plug my speakers into via a 3.5mm jack. I'm on the latest Windows 11 24H2 update too; all drivers up to date; USB suspend is disabled.

    Essentially, the USB device goes to sleep if there is no audio playing. When I try to play something that emits sound (youtube video, MP3s, etc) there is a delay of 2-5 seconds before the audio starts.

    If I plug my 3.5mm jack directly into my motherboard (removing the USB DAC) this issue goes away. Trouble is that my motherboard audio is rubbish.

    Not sure if this is the same issue everyone else is experiencing but it is annoying af.

    Any idea what I can try to fix this issue since MS doesn't seem capable of fixing it themselves.

    FYI

    Since my computer did not like 23H2 anymore (kept asking me to install 24h2), I had to try something different.

    I replaced my Audio-M audio interface by a Roland Duo Capture Ex interface.

    Wow! Up to now more annoying “speaker plops” every 45 seconds of USB inactivity !!

    Downloading manually the Roland Win11 driver was, in my case, not necessary.

    (Apparently Win 11 selected automatically the IN DUO-CAPTURE EX driver, date: 31-3-2024, version: 10.0.26100.1)

    In addition: Also the “roaring sound” that appeared while closing Windows, with the active speakers still switched on, is gone/solved.

    I have installed the latest update from Microsoft, yet the issue with Bose Companion speakers remains unresolved.

    I don't know if this will help anyone. Here is how I solved the same problem, I have 2 lexicon alphas,

    1. I downloaded the latest driver for those units and saved it so if i need it again i have it. run it!!

    2 ) in the device manager i unstalled all and any of the devices assoicated with the alphas,

     there were 2 unknown devices which i unstalled. check everywhere in the device manager!
    1. shut down and the computer will reinstall your units

    Since then my interfaces have not turned off and working fine!

    Hope this helps someone.

    Please be careful and consult someone if you don't know how to do this.
