Mouse Cursor Size Issue on Windows 11 (v24H2) - HP Spectre x360

mine is come back again after a month or so.

They wont agree on who the issue lies with, its due to the 24H2 update to windows, intel would have modified drivers to fit the new update, HP (and other companies probably) then would take those intel drivers and modify them more to fit their devices. All 3 need to work together, but they arent, they dont even acknowledge the issue. Itll probably be mopped up with an update at some point, until then i wouldnt expect much action from them

Three of the largest companies in the world have been unable to find a solution to a simple problem for more than half a year. I have just posted a new message on the HP community, and if the company is unable to resolve this issue immediately, they should take back their device — I am fed up with using it.

For those who would like this problem to be bypassed until a fix is in place, follow the following instructions, this works 100% for me, as always with these things - I cant guarentee it will work and if its not done correctly, it probably wont either. Hope it helps until HP/Microsoft and Intel get their heads together and fix this:

The problem

Windows is not setting the DPI scaling for the native display correctly, most often from a cold boot.  To confirm this, when the issue next occurs do the following:

Right click on desktop

Select Display Settings

Scroll down to Scale and Layout and note the Scale value (usually 200%)

Change this 200% to any other value (e.g. 175%)

Once the display refreshes, change this back to 200% (or the original value)

Your display settings should now be back to normal.  If this has resolved the issue, you should continue with this guide to make this fix happen automatically.

The fix

Download the SetDPI.exe file from github here.  Full credits to the creator of this app imniko.

Save this file to a location you will remember and not delete or move, ideally C:\Temp

Automate it

Now we need to create a scheduled task to make this run every time the machine starts with a few parameters.

Press the Windows key, start typing Task Scheduler and select it

Click on Task Scheduler Library on the left bar

Right click on Task Scheduler Library and select Create Task

In the Name box, enter FixDPI

Click Run with highest privileges

Click Triggers

Click New

In Begin the Task select At log on

Select Any user

Make sure enabled is selected

Press OK

Click Actions

Click New

Action – Start a program

Program/script – Browse to the downloaded SetDPI.exe

Add arguments – Enter 175

Press OK

Click New

Action – Start a program

Program/script – Browse to the downloaded SetDPI.exe

Add arguments – Enter 200

Press OK

Click New

Action – Start a program

Program/script – Enter this: taskkill.exe

Add arguments – Enter: /F /IM explorer.exe

Press OK

Click New

Action – Start a program

Program/script – explorer.exe

Press OK

Press OK to exit scheduled tasks.

Now on any reboot the issue should  no longer happen

I have a fix I've been using formsome months, it doesn't fix the underlying issue but it reverses it every time you boot up. It's fairly easy, but I would need to create a guide and supply a file. I'm happy to do so if people would like it, but as it's a lot of work to put some guidance together if people wouldn't like it then it's no problems I can leave it until there's a permanent fix
