Why is my network messed up after update to windows 11 24H2

Make sharing services start automatically.

Press the Windows logo key + R.

In the Run dialog box, type services.msc, and then select OK.

Right-click each of the following services, select Properties, if they're not running, select Start, and next to Startup type, select Automatic:

Function Discovery Provider Host

Function Discovery Resource Publication

SSDP Discovery

UPnP Device Host

Got the same problem.

My Synology NAS and other PC's with shares do not show up in "Network". Thou typing it's explicit name or IP-adres, gives me access.
It does show as a "Media device", but not for file sharing.
Same for my "old" pc, sharing a couple of directories on Windows 10 pro

They do show up in "other devices", but that opens their webpage or give information, not the shares.

All the mentioned services are up and running. And everything worked fine in 23h2

OS: Windows 11 Pro 24h2
NAS running SMB sharing
Win 10 Pro PC's, windows file sharing

Problem solved:
Had to enable "server signing" on my Synology NAS. It was already user + password protected, but this option put my NAS back on the "Network".

Also had to tick "allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection"

Windows 10 Pro pc's are back on "Network", so is my NAS.

did you have to "force" server signing or was "client defined" sufficient on your Synology NAS, as I am experience a similar poroblem after upgrade to 24h2 all 23h2 PCs don't have an issue

I got same problem recently.

From command prompt, run following command.

Get-NetConnectionProfile

Then confirm if NetworkCategory is private. If public, let me know!

Name : Unidentified network

InterfaceIndex : 22
NetworkCategory : Private <== Here!

SSDP Discovery and UPnP Device Host were ok and running (Automatic)

(network discovery turned on)

(On my laptop windows 11 23 H2 i see all devices in my network)

So no solution yet
