Problem in network Windows 11 24h2

How are you measuring the "slowness" ?

After restarting, open the Windows Task Manager,

or run the "resmon.exe" Resource Manager.

It could be Windows Update checking for updates,

monopolizing your CPU & your Internet.

It could be Disk Defragmenter, monopolizing your disk-drive.

It could be your anti-virus software, scanning your "C:" drive.

Not all of these background tests are launched every time that you restart Windows, as you have reported.

Do you have an older computer, with a "spinning" disk-drive, that is much slower than a newer computer with a SSD (solid state device) or NVMe (next-generation SSD) ?

I have a new PC with NVMe SSD where is installed the operative system and an HDD where I have only data. I have tryed to open the Windows Task Manager when my Internet connection is slow and I've noticed nothing strange, no process were consuming RAM or CPU. When I turn on my pc and internet is slow, is slow only Internet, everything else works well and the pc is fast as usual

This is a major pain the ass.

We have created a troubleshooting guide and also a Scheduled task to map drives manually if the GPO fails to update correctly. This is due to VPN connections that do not resolve to the correct IP address and therefore shows the VPN connection as a success, on the surface, yet polling whatsmyip reveals the wrong IP. There are many nuances to this issue and ours centers on two things: wrong IP address upon VPN connection, and the subsequent failure to map drives dependent up a specific IP address. It's daily now, the support requests with nervous/frustrated staff unable to access their resources.

TROUBLESHOOTING options for VPN/Network problems related to Win OS 24H2 (Sometime this helps, often not)

• Check IP after VPN-connection
  • Should be <dedicated IP> if Windows Built-in VPN (RRAS backend) connection successful
  • https://whatsmyip.com/
• Verify mapped drive icons are green
  • If icons NOT not green, there is no Line-Of-Sight (LOS) connection to the on-prem Domain Controller
  • On-prem app will not load if no LOS is available
  • May right-click and disconnect drives manually
  • Then while VPN-connected, via CMD type: gpupdate /force
    • Restart computer, try to connect to VPN again; verify drive map health (green)
• Verify/install KB5050009
• Verify/install latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redist in place
  • At the time of this post, the latest x64 version is 14.42.34433.0
• Check Credential Manager
  • Delete any duplicates for the VPN connection
• Advanced VPN Settings, retype VPN password again
  • Attempt VPN connection again
• Reset Network Settings
  • Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced Network Settings > Network reset > Reset now to restart your computer
  • Requires adding a new instance of the Windows Built-in VPN (RRAS backend) via VPN Settings > Add

I reverted my changes. My 2.5 gbps ethernet adapters were losing their internet connection. I disabled power-saving modes, but the issues persisted, causing some frustration. After rolling back to the previous update, everything is working fine now.

Afther Months this bug is still here. Yesterday my PC was forced to update to Win 11 24H2 and I've got internet problems. Randomly when I reboot PC it goes well, internet cabled connection works fine but other times when I start my PC Internet doesn't work, websites open after ages or don't open at all. I had before and now with current windows 11 version setted in my PC a static IP address but the issue is still here

I know you would have thought they would have fixed this problem by now. After I got the recent update, I thought it had went 2 days coming out of sleep mode with Internet okay, but this morning it didn't, what I have been doing is waiting for the recover from sleep to complete then right clicking on the Network icon and selecting Network Connections, Disabling the connection waiting a minute then0 Enabling it., which is all that restart Adapter does.

By the way I am just an elderly home user with 2 PCs sitting side by side and a Laptop, all running 24H2 now, and am only having the problem on the 1st PC that was updated, the other PC and Laptop don't show any Network problems at all - all 3 are using Ethernet not WiFi

I am experiencing the same issue. I have tried three different 2.5gbps USB ethernet adapters and disabled the power saver, but the problem persists. They need to address this. I connect directly for a reason, and Wi-Fi is incredibly slow with the latest update as well. This version is terrible!

Hi. I was have the same problem to connect to any network after update from 23H2 to 24H2. WiFi SSID network are on the list, can connect, but no IP address recived. I entered static IP, but it doesn't matter - can't ping any static IP - only 127.0.0.1. I did update for drivers, BIOS (DELL laptop) and ... it doesn't matter. Problem was COMODO firewall. After disable that on NIC configuration all go one well.
