After updating to the new Windows 11h2, some machines experienced network issues with both cable and Wi-Fi. They connect but don’t get network access and receive an IP address starting with 169…, resulting in no internet or network connection. I updated drivers, firmware, and reset the network settings. The machines’ MAC addresses haven’t changed. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Disable "IPv6" for the network adapter on your computer.
I don't have IP v6 enabled at all on either Windows Adapter or Router, I have checked most of all the previous settings including registry and services etc.
It's something that Microsoft changed on the 1st general release of 24H2 that is causing the problem, my other PC has exactly the same Network card and got a later release of 24H2 and is not affected by it, because I stopped it from downloading for quite a while.
If none of the above suggestions work, create a "System Restore" checkpoint.
Within "Device Manager", uninstall the device-driver for your network adapter, and remove the device.
Restart Windows, and let it try to reinstall the device-driver.

Nice try, but I did that quite a while back, it's quite odd in that it only happens every so often now. Before if I did WinX, U, R, I could guarantee I would have to restart the Adapter, not now, only once a blue moon, same with restoring from sleep mode, so it's not worrying me so much as it used to.
I reset windows and when it got to network during setup it wouldn't connect, had to use a phone hotspot to get it past that part.
Ouch! If I had to do that and the same happened I'd be totally fkd, I'm not too bad with PCs but rubbish when it comes to Smartphones, hardly use the thing if I don't have to 😂
