Here is what did, I am curious if anyone else has this situation. My host network is a /23. I couldn't get anything to work. I moved the port to a new VLAN/24 and now it works fine. Did anyone else have large subnets?

After updating to the new Windows 11h2, some machines experienced network issues with both cable and Wi-Fi. They connect but don’t get network access and receive an IP address starting with 169…, resulting in no internet or network connection. I updated drivers, firmware, and reset the network settings. The machines’ MAC addresses haven’t changed. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

I know you would have thought they would have fixed this problem by now. After I got the recent update, I thought it had went 2 days coming out of sleep mode with Internet okay, but this morning it didn't, what I have been doing is waiting for the recover from sleep to complete then right clicking on the Network icon and selecting Network Connections, Disabling the connection waiting a minute then0 Enabling it., which is all that restart Adapter does.
By the way I am just an elderly home user with 2 PCs sitting side by side and a Laptop, all running 24H2 now, and am only having the problem on the 1st PC that was updated, the other PC and Laptop don't show any Network problems at all - all 3 are using Ethernet not WiFi

2025-01-19T17:31:30+00:00 I know that disabling IPv6 is a workaround. This workaround worked for me.
24H2 added a stale IPv6 DNS server on top of the list of DNS servers advertised in option #6 of my DHCP leases.
This is a protocol violation which breaks DNS resolution for reaching my internal hosts, at least.
Corrective action taken: rollback to 23H2 while c:\windows.old is still there...
