Problem in network Windows 11 24h2

I'm having similar issues but have found that only on a USB-C connection. For example, when connected to a USB-C based docking station or USB-C based network adapter. The issue for us is that the computer isn't getting its DNS information from DHCP. Wireless works fine, USB-A based network adapter works fine. USB-C, not at all. If I manually enter DNS information, I can get out on the internet but if I leave it on DHCP, no DNS information is set.

Corrections - after more testing, this affects USB-A adapters as well. I'm finding that the first port I plug into will get DNS info, but the next port will not. I can move back and forth and DNS will always come to the original port used the very first time, but not to any additional USB ports the adapter is plugged in to.

Well, Microsoft will release updates today. Do you guys know about the possibility to this issue be addresses on the monthly updates that is about to be released?

Another thing, It is clear that it is a 24H2 issue, how to correctly report this issue to Microsoft? Is there some special channel to follow, engage?

I believe it is disabled because WPAD is a known security vulnerability. Look at the description on that service and it refers to WPAD. WPAD should have been disabled in any secure configuration via GPO or other secure config management tool. WPAD has not been required for around a decade or more.

I had the same issue after updating to 24H2. Luckily i could recover 23H2 from a system image. The only way i can update to 24H2 and retain the wifi setting (mine disaapeared altogether) is to install the update via a mounted iso of 24H2. the download is avialable from Microsoft.

Hi, I tried it on 2 desktops, one laptop and one Surface and removed this WinHTTPAutoProxySvc , rebooted the workstations and it worked. Windows 11 23H2 does not have this dependency.

This service exist in 23H2 too.
