Problem in network Windows 11 24h2

I set up a new computer on my office network with a single local account without a password. I couldn't get by the need to enter a username and password when I tried to log in from my main desktop. Both machines are Win 11 24H2

I have been trying various suggestions but havent had any success.

I have files to transfer to the new machine, so I then thought to temporarily get around the issue until a repair is applied, I will create a user with a password.

Once I did, I was able to coonect and I gained access to all shared folders for all users in the new machine.

Simple, but effective - for me.

So I had wonky network issues with windows 11 multiple times , most recently it was telling me on a hardwired staic IP system that I was not connected to a network, but had internet cappabillites. I could go to the "network" and it would say not connected to network , but then show me my internal network devices. it would also not give me the option for public / private settings, as it thought I was not connected. LONG STORY SHORT, I found if you configure network setting in Win 11 from the new = SETTINGS / NETWORK & INTERNET page. THEY will most likely have issues , at least in the last couple builds. THE FIX, was to go to the old settings "control panel" / network & sharing / change adapter settings !!! And config your settings there ! fixes many network issues ! SEEMS MICROSOFT , has not sufficiently stopped using the old settings or successfully rolled them over to the new. hope this helps. I spent weeks trying to fix this and turns out it was simple THANKS MICROSOFT

Thanks for pointing me back to the Control Panel way again. Like you I had thought MS would have made their new Windows 11 Settings app get networks stuff right ... but sadly no!

I also set my wired IP to static for the local network, & had been swapping between various DNS servers (my ISP, Google, Cloudflare) using the new app attempting to fix the issue - even turning on DNS over HTTPS (again in the new app) to try and get it working. No such luck & major semi intermittent extremely frustrating half loading (or worse) for Youtube, Facebook, X/Twitter - even a CMD prompt ping had trouble getting consistent DNS requests resolved!!

Found your post a couple of days ago & immediately changed back to Cloudflare using the Control Panel IPv4 settings. (& no DNS over HTTPS available in those settings) So far the inconsistent loading seems to have gone away. (& I'm not tearing my hair out wondering WTH is going wrong all the time!)

I will now make a point of NEVER changing Network Settings with the new app until the old one disappears completely! I simply don't trust the new version now!

Microsoft: please do better testing for basic stuff like this! I'm ex-network support & still wasted FAR too much time on both attempting to fix this, & on slow & not fully loading sites (doing MANY reload attempts to try & get pages or content to load properly!) all because you haven't got the new Settings / Network Settings app working properly! I thought it was a Facebook/Youtube/X issue ... but no, it's poor MS testing ... again! (like the recent network scanner/printer issue from December that is STILL not fixed, despite having the latest updates that say it should be!)
