Windows 11, "no audio devices found" both input and output. What happened to my speakers in the laptop?

Thanks - I went to Dell (I have a Dell Latitude) website and downloaded drivers from there. All fixed even though Windows 11 was telling me everything was up to date

The same thing happened with mine. no sound controller was even listed in device mgmt. I went to the listed: "intel sound technology" and rolled back to the previous driver and my speakers are back. Its the latest update. its not compatible.

The audio driver (most likely for a RealTek ALC3288 audio chip) crashes and then you must reboot your laptop to fix the issue. And it works for a while (5-120 minutes) and then crashes again.

The Realtek ALC3288 driver is a very popular sound chip on many laptops right now. I had a July 2024 version with this crashing bug. Automatic windows updates were not updating my driver - i had to download the new driver manually.

I navigated to my driver download page and clicked "See All Downloads".

If your laptop has a RealTek sound chip (ALC3288), and the version is lower than 9721.1, then look for a driver update from your Laptop vendor. Alternately, you could install the Asus driver above and there is a 90% chance it will work because the device driver is an isolated thing and doesn't usually depend upon the laptop's hardware design. If the Acer driver doesn't work, you just lose your speaker sound (bluetooth still works) and can try a different driver or revert to your previous driver and try something else.
