Hello
I never had any problems with my PC .
Windows 11, version 24H2 update is ready to install, I approve the restart, it starts working, stops at 68% for 5 minutes, then restarts and turns off PC. When I booth back, it simply wants to download it and install it again.
Troubleshooter shows Error but offers no solution.
I have downloaded the ISO and followed all instructions, but 26% in, the installer just stops all goes back to windows and says Windows 11 instalation failed.
Any ideas?

hey thanks for sharing this step by step. mine will not install even if i tried to manually do it. similiar issue but it will install and fail after 8% and its been doing it since its release and i do not know what to do or how to fix the corrupted files that need updating.

Depends on the hardware and software whether it's been set to offer you the update. After several failed attempts it stops for a bit.

The last time I turned on updates, which I had paused for some time, accursed 24H2 started to download all by itself, pending installation. This was about 4 hours ago. I immediately put a stop to that nonsense by pausing updates again.
Maybe things changed during that short period. So, I'll try again to check for updates while typing this message.
Some moments later:
Same result as before. 24H2 still starts downloading, pending installation. Paused updates again for 5 weeks. I hope that by that time, Microsoft will have solved the conundrum.

I did all of the above and more for days. Even the two updates from earlier in the week wouldn't install properly.
What worked for me is something I discovered by accident. Under 'Advanced Options' there's 'Recovery.' Click that and then go to 'Fix problems using Windows Update.' It will install the very latest edition of Windows 11 24H2 "repair edition" (or something like that it said next to it,) without deleting any of your settings or programs. It basically overwrites and/or replaces any missing or corrupt files.
It takes a good couple of hours but might be worth a try for anybody still having problems.
That's the one I did in the 23h2 to 24h2 upgrade. Just effectively does a clean install so resets the parameters that may be causing issues.
I did have to do that on an unsupported machine in October using a set of commands that apply to the server method. On a Google. Otherwise it says your hardware isn't compatible... I think. So a command version of that.
Think the fix you are applying is the one where Microsoft screwed up the updates to 24h2 for a month or so dependent on how it was initially installed. Escaped that one.
Either way if you do that you escape those tedious stop / start, clear this that and another. My take on what it does. The guys that spout that haven't caught up with the in place restore method of resetting all parameters which is what that is. That was my touch base position on each interaction of trying to get the update installed. What other people were doing... picked that up in the journey as I read the endless help screens that gave nothing that helped except a few that did... oh no not net stop.. start blah blah. So you'd flick over that to the next one on the Google of a fragment of the error log file.
