Windows 11, version 24H2 won't install

I, for one, did run the hvciscan_amd64 tool. Apparently, it found no incompatible drivers To wit:

And still, the dreadful update won't install. This little game has now lasted far too long. Let Microsoft sort that boo-boo out until one can install the thing without all those convolutions it has put its users through.

The whole caboodle is a digital scandal. Meanwhile, let whoever is in charge include me out. I'm giving up.

I studied Microsoft's guide: "Get help with Windows upgrade and installation errors" - it was horrible reading for a normal user.

It contains more than 30 possible error codes and suggested remedies if the update fails - several of which have been featured here as well.

And they also say that "common errors can be fixed with a few steps (??) that you can do on your own"

It came to my mind that "does Microsoft now live in the same world as millions of users?"

Does Microsoft really think that someone could follow these massive and time-consuming instructions - after all, it's often a user, not an IT engineer?

Is 24H2 already too big and ambitious update for Microsoft --> it doesn't seem to be now under "anyone's control" anymore?

Is Microsoft trying to pass on fixing their own errors to users by releasing such a massive number of possible error codes --> this causes a large number of users to be in such a "distress" due to lack of knowledge?

That's been known for a few days now. If you have the December update installed, cumulative you are fine... but there is another one now 🤣. You'll find that. That's don't install via MSI the cumulative updates and if you have delete and install another way.

Think if they aren't updating you are probably better to do the inplace restore / repair then it will rebuild to December or onwards. I'm looking to see how the January cumulative update installs if there is one.

I think that my updates have come OK?

Perfect reply! No user should be put through such a hassle, whether versed in IT matters or not. Microsoft must apologize and start all over from scratch. Including a full explanation of what the updating user is to expect.

I think Microsoft have failed big time by not providing advance warning of the significance of the changes that 24h2 introduces.

Yes, make things more secure, yes make PCs more stable and resistant to poorly written code. But don't just drop this on us. I had to remove over 14 drivers, and six pieces of software before standing a chance of getting this to install. Oh, yes, plus removing my 'third party antivirus product' from that fringe company (Norton).

Webcam had to go.

Oracle virtualization software had to go

Ironically, I had already built a VM in virtualbox, with windows 23h2, and upgraded it to 24h2.

Registry editing. Several thirds party tools to identify rogue drivers.

Yes, this will really encourage users to move forward and keep their machines up to date with these latest releases

First - read my text Dec 17 --> I successfully, without any problems updated my laptop to version 24H2 with (official) Windows 11 Installation Assistant!

I did not remove any drivers or any software.

I did not remove my "third party antivirus product" (F-Secure).

I did not edit the registry.

I did not use any thirds party tools.

And - I did not change anything else on my laptop.

How do you comment this?

Because there is a given percent that install without an issue. That's is why. I've found that figure to be a staggering 50% on fully compliant W11 hardware. That's why. That figure has obviously dropped from all past releases. Sample size of two.

It's widely known that Microsoft has an issue with 24H2. They effectively admit it with their holds on the roll out and bug reports.
