Windows 11 Insider Preview is positioned as a preview version (early testing) rather than a production version. Your problem is that after updating the Preview version of 24H2, the audio device does not work properly. I also noticed that many users clicked the same problem as you, but this may be due to the compatibility of the driver and the system version.

My audio device is not working properly since yesterday. Audio from the videos just stop again and again and i have to run automated diagnostics scan again and again to get the sound back and the scan shows audio problem diagnostic.

For now, until Microsoft figures out a fix, go to "Device Manager", expand "Sound, video, game controllers", right click on "Realtek(R) Audio" and select "Update driver", select "Browse my computer for drivers", select "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer" and click "Next", select "High Definition Audio Device" and click "Next", you will get a popup window that states "Update Driver Warning", choose "Yes" to continue to install this driver, new "Update Drivers - Realtek(R) Audio" window will popup stating "Windows has successfully updated your drivers". Select "Close".

In "Device Manager" expand "Sound, video, game controllers", right click on "Realtek(R) Audio" and select "Properties", a new window will pop up "Realtek Audio Properties", "Driver Date" should read "7/3/2024", and "Drive Version" should read "10.0.26100.1150".

This should restore sound, but it is limited in functionality. Microsoft needs to be aware that not all Windows 11 approved systems use USB-based sound devices. They still need to fix the drivers ASAP to properly support motherboard-based 3.5mm jack analog outputs.

Soundless Windows 11 PCs are basically useless in today's streaming Internet world.

I have found a temporary solution to the problem. I downloaded and installed the lightweight Foobar2000 player. Recorded the sound of silence in Adobe Audition. I loaded this sound into the player and put it on loop playback. In the properties of the player shortcut, I added the path to the track and moved the shortcut to the auto-upload. Now, when you start the PC, the silence sound starts playing immediately. Due to the fact that the external sound card is always active, it does not turn off. But my problem was precisely that when idle, the sound card turned off and turned on only when it received sound. All other methods did not help me: reinstalling the drivers, disabling the power saving mode and prohibiting the disconnection of USB ports. None of this helped. The only thing that helped was the constant background sound of silence.

Oh, by the way, if anyone needs it: The sound of silence is exactly 1 minute so that the file has a small size. In the player settings, you need to set the startup in the tray so that it does not appear on the desktop. Well, the sound card: I have it M-Audio M-Track 2014. Windows 11 24h2.
