Hello Doug,
first thanks for your Information.
As I wrote, got BSOD and restarts after Windows 11 24H2 Update while idle on my Dell XPS 15 9570.
Previously I had already checked and updated all Drivers.
eventvwr shows:
The computer restarted after a fatal error.
The error code was: 0x0000007e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff80765e63a8d, 0xfffff18361166f78, 0xfffff18361166760).
A full dump was saved to: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\122924-17156-01.dmp. Report ID: 40d5f111-4053-4f4f-940b-9a720c8c1023.
The evaluation (by MS) of the minidumpfile says that the Realtek USB audio driver (version: 6.3.9600.2330) is causing the BSOD!
Therefore, a new version is needed here. This audio driver should be updatet.
Current Driver:
Name: Realtek USB Audio
Manufacturer: Realtek
Driver: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERSTORE\FILEREPOSITORY\RTDUSBAD_DELL.INF_AMD64_1A8F1ED8100D99E0\RTUSBA64.SYS (6.3.9600.2330, 491,28 KB (503.072 Bytes), 12.06.2024 18:39)
Found in some Forums that there should be newer drivers - USB Audio Driver 6.3.9600.2347 or 6.3.9600.2368 for Windows 11,
but per manufacturer's website Realtek, these cannot be found.
On manufacturer's website Realtek, found for 'Computer-Peripherie-ICs'-> PC-Audio-Codecs ->High-Definition-Audio-Codecs=Version ALC888S-VD
->High Definition Audio Codecs Software
-> for 64bits Vista, Windows7, Windows8, Windows8.1, Windows10 Driver only (Executable file) Version R2.83 with date 2024/08/15, size 258MB.
Win 11 is not mentioned!
Why not? Release date was October 5, 2021!
Furthermore, contacted Dell Support via Chat for verified/certified USB Audio Driver,
People on Chat let me know the Realtek USB audio Driver isn't certified.
I let him know that a newer driver needs approval and attached on the download side by Dell.
He let me know: Only drivers on our website are legitimate and they are released according to the system compatibility.
Contacted Dell support again; Left notice on Dells support site, that i need a newer USB Audio Driver for my Dell XPS 15 9570.
So far, I haven't received a response from Dell yet.
Anyway, I tried to download the drivers from Realtek.
-> for 64bits Vista, Windows7, Windows8, Windows8.1, Windows10 Driver only (Executable file) Version R2.83 with date 2024/08/15, size 258MB.
But received file with name: not confirmed 65118.crdownload! ??? never heard that.
So, you can't do anything with that!
Now I'm no smarter than before.
Kind regards
