Win 11 ver. 24H2 causing Brother scanning driver install to fail. How to fix?

Hi All,

I have a Brother DCP-7065DN multi-function machine, connected to my Windows 11 desktop computer. I was having some problems with a label printer and pursuant to that I disinstalled the Brother software and re-installed it. Since the re-install, the Brother printer driver installed but the scanner driver installation failed. I've tried multiple times.

Brother has noted this as a problem with Windows 11 Version 24H2. (See attached link.)

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Thanks.

Nancy

I have unsubscribed from this and I'm still getting emails every time someone posts. Anyone know how I can stop them from being sent?

I use ControlCenter4. I don't agree with Brother iPrint. I have installed all MS updates, uninstalled and installed "Brother Full Driver & Software Package" (https://www.brother.co.uk/support/mfcl8690cdw/downloads), scanned the laptop for corrupt files, everything is fine. I can't scan from the device to the laptop.....

My scanner doesn't appear in "Printers & Scanners". Only the printer. Is it the same for you?

    Oliviu,

Did you define the action under the event in Scanner and Cameras profile?

Also check installed driver under Device Manager is Brother driver not MS wsd driver.

Finally, I assume you have installed most latest MS updates. Un-installed and Re-installed your Brother MFC driver and software.

    Good luck

Is there something I'm missing and I don't understand? And scanning from device to laptop doesn't work!

    Hey Nancy,

Yeah, I had the same kind of issue with my Brother printer/scanner after a Windows update. Super annoying. Here's what I did to get mine working again — hopefully it helps!

    1. Uninstalled everything Brother-related

I just deleted all the Brother stuff from my computer. Anything that said “Brother,” I got rid of it. Even went into the control panel and made sure it was all gone.

    2. Restarted my computer

Simple, but it helps. I restarted after I removed everything, just to give it a clean start.

    3. Got the drivers from Brother’s website

Went to their support site and downloaded the full package for my model (not just the printer part — the whole thing). Ran the setup and made sure to check anything that said “scanner.”

    4. Ran the setup as admin
I right-clicked on the install file and hit “Run as Administrator.” No idea why it helps, but it did for me.

    5. Tried using the scanner through the Brother app or even Paint

Once it was installed, I didn’t even mess with their old software — I just opened Paint, went to File > From Scanner, and boom, it worked.

    6. (Optional) Used Brother's iPrint&Scan app

Found it in the Microsoft Store. It’s actually pretty decent and helped me scan without all the hassle.

Hope that helps a bit! Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks me later..
