This finally worked. It did require restart. Before restart I was getting a different msg - something about the printer was busy then the CC4-202 error.
All is good now, thanks for sharing.
Win 11 ver. 24H2 causing Brother scanning driver install to fail. How to fix?

Hi All,
I have a Brother DCP-7065DN multi-function machine, connected to my Windows 11 desktop computer. I was having some problems with a label printer and pursuant to that I disinstalled the Brother software and re-installed it. Since the re-install, the Brother printer driver installed but the scanner driver installation failed. I've tried multiple times.
Brother has noted this as a problem with Windows 11 Version 24H2. (See attached link.)
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

It is the perfect solution at least for now.
It worked with my brother printers MFC-L2700DW and MFC-L2710DW.Steps as what I did:
- Finish the installation of your printer driver full package normally (Checked on 24H2, OS Build 26100.2605 - Dec 10,2024 Windows updated PC) and it will end up with only scanner driver installation failed. (Basically it won't scan from Control Center 4 scanner app and if you want to check, open 'Brother Utilities'-->Tools-->Installation Diagnostics, it will tell you only Scanner driver installation failed).
- Go to 'Device Manager' --> Imaging devices --> Right click on 'Your printer name' --> Disable device
- Again Right click on it, but this time click on Update driver --> Browse my computer for drivers --> Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer --> on next window you should already have your printer name, just select and click on Next.
- On next screen you will see successfully installed a driver and click on close, Imaging device which you have just disabled will be enabled by system and then close everything, do a restart once.
- Just use Control Centre 4 as you usually used to scan something and it will work this time.

2025-01-07T22:49:26+00:00 I saw that a few days back on the internet and attempted the steps.
It does not work for me because when I go back and look for my device name when searching for drivers I only see a Generic software device and a WSD Scan Device. No Brother machine is listed.
That might work if your drivers were installed PRIOR to updating the computers OS. But my computer is new and was already updated. So the drivers have never been installed.
Thanks for posting it though. Maybe it will be helpful for someone else.
I have searched online a bunch of times and am giving up until MS or Brother fixes the issue.
I may just end up buying a NEW Multifunction printer in a few months if they do not fix the issue.

2025-01-06T21:56:25+00:00 Confirmed.... If CC4 is installed BEFORE 24H2 (Win 10 or 11 pre 24H2) - works fine. Install CC4 AFTER 24H2 ... no go!
